A food preparation system comprising a container having a prescribed quantity of foodstuff. The container includes an interior chamber expandable by the addition of a liquid. The food preparation system further comprises a vessel sized and configured to receive the container and a prescribed volume of liquid. A pump is in fluid communication with the liquid and the container. The pump is operative to transfer the liquid from the vessel into the container such that as the foodstuff is mixed with the liquid, the interior of the container will expand into the vessel.

A food preparation system, comprising: a vessel having a top portion and a bottom portion configured to receive a prescribed volume of liquid; a container comprising an expandable chamber containing a prescribed quantity of foodstuff, said container being sized to be insertable into the top of said vessel; and a pump in fluid communication with the liquid and the chamber of the container via a tube; wherein the pump is operative to transfer the liquid from the vessel into the chamber and-mix with the foodstuff such that as the liquid is transferred into the chamber, the chamber will expand from the volume of liquid into the bottom portion of the vessel. 2. The food preparation system of claim 1 wherein the pump is a percolator. 3. The food preparation system of claim 1 wherein the pump comprises a heating element in fluid communication with the liquid and the tube, the heating element being operative to heat and transfer the fluid into the chamber. 4. The food preparation system of claim 1 wherein the vessel is configured to contain water. 5. The food preparation system of claim 1 further comprising a conduit in fluid communication with the pump and the container, the conduit being configured to transfer the liquid from the pump into the container. 6. The food preparation system of claim 1 wherein the vessel defines a mouth and the container is sized and configured to engage the mouth of the vessel when inserted therein. 7. The food preparation system of claim 6 wherein the container comprises a lip engageable to the mouth of the vessel in order to facilitate cleaning of the vessel. 8. A food preparation system comprising: a vessel having an interior chamber; an inner cup insertable into the interior chamber of the vessel; a container having a prescribed quantity of foodstuff, the container insertable into the inner cup; and a pump in fluid communication with the vessel and the container, the pump being operative to transfer liquid from the vessel into the container such that the liquid is mixed with the foodstuff; wherein the inner cup comprises a valve such that when the inner cup is inserted into the vessel, liquid poured into the inner cup will flow into the interior chamber of the vessel. 9. The system of claim 8 wherein the container comprises an expandable interior containing the foodstuff such that as the liquid is poured into the container, the interior expands. 10. The system of claim 8 wherein inner cup has a top portion and a bottom portion and the container is placed in the top portion and expands into the bottom portion of the inner cup as liquid is pumped into the expandable interior. 11. The system of claim 8 wherein the pump comprises a heating element in fluid communication with the liquid when poured in the vessel, the heating element being operative to heat and transfer the fluid into the container. 12. The system of claim 8 wherein the pump is a percolator. 13. A method of preparing packaged food with a food preparation system having an expandable container with a prescribed quantity of foodstuff and a vessel with a pump, the method comprising the steps of: a) filling the vessel with a prescribed volume of liquid; b) inserting the expandable container into the vessel; and c) sufficiently heating the liquid to transfer the liquid from the vessel into the container with the pump in order to mix the liquid with the foodstuff; and d) expanding the container with the liquid being transferred therein by the pump. 14. The method of claim 13 wherein the vessel comprises a top interior portion and a bottom interior portion for containing the liquid, and: step (a) comprises pouring the liquid in the bottom interior portion; step (b) comprises inserting the container in the top interior portion; and step (d) comprises expanding the container into the bottom interior portion as the liquid is transferred from the bottom interior portion into the container.
