A membrane process for the removal of sulfur species from a naphtha feed, in particular, a FCC light cat naphtha, without a substantial loss of olefin yield is disclosed. The process involves contacting a naphtha feed stream with a membrane having sufficient flux and selectivity to separate a sulfur deficient retentate fraction from a sulfur enriched permeate fraction, preferably, under pervaporation conditions. Sulfur deficient retentate fractions are useful directly into the gasoline pool. Sulfur-enriched permeate fractions are rich in sulfur containing aromatic and nonaromatic hydrocarbons and are further treated with conventional sulfur removal technologies, e.g. hydrotreating, to reduce sulfur content. The process of the invention provides high quality naphtha products having a reduced sulfur content and a high content of olefin compounds. ior surface being provided with a coating of palladium, and an exterior surface that is placed in contact with the process stream; (b) a fluid-tight reservoir containing a basic liquid electrolyte solution in communication with the palladium coating of the test specimen electrode; (c) a negatively charged counter electrode positioned in the electrolyte reservoir proximate the test specimen electrode said reservoir, test specimen electrode and counter electrode constituting a probe assembly; (d) a mounting assembly for supporting and positioning said probe assembly in contact with a process stream and for receiving electrical conductors joined to said probe assembly; and (e) an electrically non-conductive isolator positioned between said mounting assembly and said probe assembly. ohydrins, epihalohydrin hydrolysis by-products and organic halogen bound to the polymer backbone. 24. The process according to claim 1, wherein the composition containing the reduced CPD-forming polyamine-epihalohydrin resin, when stored at pH 1 for 24 hours at 50° C. and measured at 24 hours, produces less than about 50 ppm dry basis of CPD. 25. The process according to claim 1 wherein the reduced CPD-forming polyamine-epihalohydrin resin, when stored at pH 1 for 24 hours at 50° C. and measured at 24 hours, produces less than about 250 ppm dry basis of CPD. 26. The process according to claim 25, wherein following the treating with the at least one acidic agent, at least one basic agent is added to raise the pH of the resin composition to a range of about 8 to 12. 27. The process according to claim 25 wherein the reduced CPD-forming polyamine-epihalohydrin resin, when stored at pH 1 for 24 hours at 50° C. and measured at 24 hours, produces less than about 75 ppm dry basis of CPD. 28.
