The method of claim 11, further comprising the action of removing at least a portion of fluid from the slurry in the region between the screen and the substantially tubular member by way of the screen while leaving particulate material in the region between the screen and the substantially tubular member. 14. The method of claim 11, wherein the actions of placing the substantially tubular member in the wellbore and of placing the screen in the wellbore occur at the same time. 15. The method of claim 14, wherein the substantially tubular member is coupled to the screen. 16. The method of claim 11, wherein the openings have an area of at least the area of a circle having a diameter of 1/2 inch. 17. The method of claim 16, wherein the openings are circular having a diameter of at least 1/2 inch. 18. The method of claim 11, wherein the openings have an area of at least the area of a rectangle having a width of 3/8 inch and a length of 2 inches. 19. The method of claim 18, wherein the openings are rectangular having a width of at least 3/8 inch and a length of at least 2 inches. 20. The method of claim 11, wherein the substantially tubular member is a liner. 21. A method for completing a production zone penetrated by a wellbore comprising the steps of: placing in the wellbore proximate the zone a substantially tubular member having openings; placing in the wellbore proximate the zone a screen within the substantially tubular member; establishing flow of a slurry of particulate material between the substantially tubular member and the wellbore; and bypassing a sand bridge formed between the substantially tubular member and the wellbore by using an alternate path formed between the screen and the substantially tubular member whereby flow from the alternate path enters between the substantially tubular member and the wellbore on the other side of the sand bridge by way of at least one of the openings in the substantially tubular member. 22. The method of claim 21, wherein the action of bypassing a sand bridge by using the alternate path for the slurry further comprises the flow entering and exiting the alternate path by way of the openings in the substantially tubular member. 23. The method of claim 21, further comprising the action of removing at least a portion of fluid from the flow of slurry in the alternate path by way of the screen while leaving particulate material in the alternate path. 24. The method of claim 21, wherein the actions of placing the substantially tubular member in the wellbore and of placing the screen in the wellbore occur at the same time. 25. The method of claim 24, wherein the substantially tubular member is coupled to the screen. 26. The method of claim 21, wherein the openings have an area of at least the area of a circle having a diameter of 1/2 inch. 27. The method of claim 26, wherein the openings are circular having a diameter of at least 1/2 inch. 28. The method of claim 21, wherein the openings have an area of at least the area of a rectangle having a width of 3/8 inch and a length of 2 inches. 29. The method of claim 28, wherein the openings are rectangular having a width of at least 3/8 inch and a length of at least 2 inches. 30. The method of claim 21, wherein the substantially tubular member is a liner. 31.
