An adjustable bone fusion implant includes a first plate having an interior face with a plurality of spaced apart first support members projecting therefrom. Each support member has a plurality of teeth projecting therefrom. A second plate has an interior face with a plurality of spaced apart second support members projecting therefrom. Each second support member has at least one tooth or one adjustment hole formed thereon. A portion of the plurality of teeth of each first support member mechanically engage with the at least one tooth or one adjustment hole of a corresponding second support member so that the first plate and the second plate can be selectively separated forming a compartment therebetween. A reinforcing member is disposed between the first plate and the second plate such that the application of a compressive force between the first plate and the second plate applies compression on the reinforcing member.

A portion of the plurality of teeth of each first support member mechanically engage with the at least one tooth or one adjustment hole of a corresponding second support member so that the first plate and the second plate can be selectively separated forming a compartment therebetween. A reinforcing member is disposed between the first plate and the second plate such that the application of a compressive force between the first plate and the second plate applies compression on the reinforcing member. f claim 1 wherein said first and second regions are first and second tubular members, and two portions of the wall of said second tubular member and a portion of the wall of said first tubular member near said tubular conduit inlet end are held together by a closure attachment with componency perpendicular to said axial direction. 28. The method of claim 27 wherein said closure attachment is formed from attachment means that are selected from the group consisting of suture, staples, metallic fiber, polymeric fiber, adhesives, biological bonding agents, laser fusion methods, and thermal fusion methods. 29. The method of claim 28 wherein said closure attachment is formed at least in part using a mechanism. 30. The method of claim 27 wherein said closure attachment is comprised of an inlet valve cusp attachment that holds a portion of the wall of said second tubular member in apposition with a portion of the wall of said first tubular member near said tubular conduit inlet end. 31. The method of claim 1 wherein said first and second regions are first and second tubular members, respectively, and a portion of the wall of said second tubular member and a portion of the wall of said first tubular member near said tubular conduit inlet end are held together by an inlet valve cusp attachment with componency perpendicular to said axial direction.
