A backlit display apparatus illuminates a film for displaying one or more images. The film has a series of frames and at least one mark printed on it corresponding to each frame. The marks provide information representative of frame position relative to the film or otherwise identifying the image displayed by the frame when illuminated. A light source, positioned behind the film relative to an intended viewer in front of the film, illuminates the frames. A detector detects the marks printed on the film as the film is advanced by a motor. An encoder associated with the motor detects the position of the frames as a function of the angular position of the motor when each mark on the film is detected. In response, the encoder generates a position signal representative of the detected positions of the frames. A processor controls the motor in response to the position signal to advance the film so that a selected frame is within the desired viewing area for a predetermined interval of time. The processor also provides a universal interface to other display apparatus or external devices.

The fuel injection control device as defined in claim 6, wherein the controller is further programmed to determine if the temperature is lower than a second predetermined temperature which is lower than the first predetermined temperature, and control the fuel injectors to perform a sequential fuel injection for a cylinder in the intake stroke when the temperature is lower than the second predetermined temperature before performing the normal sequential fuel injection. 10. The fuel injection control device as defined in claim 9, wherein the device further comprises a fifth sensor which detects a rotation speed of the engine and the controller is further programmed to control the fuel injectors to stop performing the sequential fuel injection for the cylinder in the intake stroke and start performing the normal sequential fuel injection in a cylinder in the exhaust stroke when the rotation speed has reached the predetermined rotation speed. 11. The fuel injection control device as defined in claim 1, wherein the controller is further programmed to determine if the temperature is lower than a second predetermined temperature which is lower than the first predetermined temperature, and control the fuel injectors to perform the primary fuel injection only for a cylinder in the intake stroke when the temperature is lower than the second predetermined temperature. 12. The fuel injection control device as defined in claim 11, wherein the device further comprises a fourth sensor which generates a signal corresponding to a specific position in a specific stroke of each cylinder, and the controller is further programmed to control the fuel injectors, when the temperature is lower than the second predetermined temperature, to sequentially perform a subsequent fuel injection for a cylinder in the intake stroke in response to the signal generated by the fourth sensor. 13. The fuel injection control device as defined in claim 1, wherein a sum of a fuel amount of the preliminary fuel injection and a fuel amount of the primary fuel injection is set equal to a predetermined amount of fuel that is required for a first execution of the combustion of fuel in a corresponding cylinder. 14. The fuel injection control device as defined in claim 13, wherein the controller is further programmed to determine the fuel amount of the preliminary fuel injection according to the temperature and determine the fuel amount of the primary fuel injection by subtracting the amount of the preliminary fuel injection from the predetermined amount. 15. The fuel injection control device as defined in claim 14, wherein the controller is further programmed to set the fuel amount of the preliminary fuel injection to be zero when the fuel amount of the preliminary fuel injection determined according to the predetermined temperature is less than a predetermined minimum amount. 16. A fuel injection control device for an internal combustion engine, the engine comprising a plurality of cylinders which sequentially perform a combustion of fuel and a starter motor which cranks up the engine, each of the cylinders having an intake port and a fuel injector which injects fuel into the intake port and sequentially performing an intake stroke, a compression stroke, an expansion stroke and an exhaust stroke, the device comprising: first means for detecting a start of the starter motor; second means for detecting a cylinder in a specific position in a specific stroke and generates a corresponding signal; third means for detecting a temperature of the engine; fourth means for determining if the temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature; fifth means for executing a
