A method for producing a cathode ray tube, which comprises the step of integrating the glass panel recited in claim 1 and a funnel by frit sealing under heat. 4. A cathode ray tube comprising a glass panel, which is made of a chemically strengthened glass from a matrix glass which comprises SiO2,Al2O3,Li2O, Na2O, SrO, TiO2,ZrO2and CeO2and also contains MgO or CaO or both and which has an Li2O content of 5 to 20 mol %, an SrO content of 3 to 15 mol % and a ZrO2content of 0.1 to 5 mol %. 5. The cathode ray tube of claim 4, wherein the glass panel has an SiO2content of 40 to 70 mol %, an Al2O3content of 0.1 to 15 mol %, an Na2O content of 0.1 to 10 mol %, an MgO content of 0 to 15 mol %, a CaO content of 0 to 15 mol % and TiO2content of 0.1 to 15 mol % and has an SiO2+Al2O3+Li2O+Na2O+SrO+TiO2+ZrO2+CeO2+MgO+CaO total content of at least 85 mol %. 6. The cathode ray tube of claim 5, wherein the glass panel has at least one of a Young's modulus of at least 90 GPa, a specific elastic modulus (Young's modulus/specific gravity) of at least 30 GPa, a strain point of at least 500° C., an internal tensile stress of less than 20 MPa or a surface compression stress of at least 100 MPa. 7. A method for producing a cathode ray tube, which comprises the step of integrating the glass panel recited in claim 4 and a funnel by frit sealing under heat.
