The implantable biological tissue of claim 1, wherein the biological tissue is pre-treated with glutaraldehyde. 3. The implantable biological tissue of claim 2, wherein the pre-treatment includes cross-linking with glutaraldehyde. 4. The implantable biological tissue of claim 3, wherein the treatment with a high molecular weight polyalkylene oxide comprises treatment with an Imz-PEO solution. 5. The implantable biological tissue of claim 4, wherein the treatment with an Imz-PEO solution is followed by a reaction with NH2-PEO. 6. The implantable biological tissue of claim 5, further including treating the tissue with a biologically active recognition sequence, peptide, or compound during the reaction with NH2-PEO. 7. The implantable biological tissue of claim 6, wherein the treatment with an Imz-PEO solution is followed by a reaction with NH2-PEO. 8. The implantable biological tissue of claim 1, wherein the biological tissue is selected from the group consisting of: bovine pericardial tissue; porcine tissue; and equine tissue. 9. The implantable biological tissue of claim 1, wherein the biological tissue is fresh and the treatment with a high molecular weight polyalkylene oxide comprises treatment with an Imz-PEO solution. 10. A method for improving the calcification mitigation properties of an implantable biological tissue, comprising the step of: treating a biological tissue with one or more high molecular weight polyalkylene oxide derivatives. 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the biological tissue is pre-treated with glutaraldehyde. 12. The method of claim 10, wherein the pre-treatment includes cross-linking with glutaraldehyde. 13. The method of claim 10, wherein the biological tissue is selected from the group consisting of: bovine pericardial tissue; porcine tissue; and equine tissue. 14. The method of claim 10, wherein the treatment with an Imz-PEO solution is followed by a reaction with NH2-PEO. 15. The method of claim 14, further including treating the tissue with a biologically active recognition sequence, peptide, or compound during the reaction with NH2-PEO. 16. The method of claim 10, wherein the biological tissue is fresh and the treatment with a high molecular weight polyalkylene oxide comprises treatment with an Imz-PEO solution. 17. The method of claim 16, wherein the treatment with an Imz-PEO solution is followed by a reaction with NH2-PEO.
