A road map display apparatus including a road map information memory for memorizing road map data on a two-dimensional coordinate, detection means for detecting a present position and a travel direction of an automotive vehicle, read-out means for reading out a two-dimensional coordinate of the road map data from the information memory on a basis of the present position and travel direction of the vehicle detected by the detection means, and image display means for displaying a road map defined by the read out two-dimensional coordinate on a screen, wherein the road map display apparatus comprises coordinate conversion means provided to convert a square two-dimensional coordinate to a trapezoid coordinate for display of a perspective view on a two-dimensional plane without executing any perspective conversion processing taking into account a viewpoint to a coordinate value of the road map data in such a manner that an upper side of the two-dimensional coordinate is contracted relatively to a lower side of the two-dimensional coordinate in a condition where a diagonal line connecting one end of the upper side of the two-dimensional coordinate to the other end of the lower side of the two-dimensional coordinate is retained straight, and wherein said coordinate conversion means is arranged to convert the two-dimensional coordinate of the road map data read out by the read-out means for display of the perspective view to the trapezoid coordinate so that said image display means displays a road map in the travel direction of the vehicle defined by the converted trapezoid coordinate in the form of a perspective view on the screen. 4. A road map display apparatus including a road map information memory for memorizing road map data on a two-dimensional coordinate, detection means for detecting a present position and a travel direction of an automotive vehicle, read-out means for reading out a two-dimensional coordinate of the road map data from the information memory on a basis of the present position and travel direction of the vehicle detected by the detection means, and image display means for displaying a road map defined by the read out two-dimensional coordinate on a screen, wherein the road map display apparatus comprises parameter memory means for memorizing trapezoid conversion parameters preliminarily determined on a basis of a conversion formula for converting the two-dimensional coordinate of the road map data to a trapezoid coordinate for display of a perspective view without executing any perspective conversion processing taking into account a viewpoint to a coordinate value of the road map data in such a manner that an upper side of a square two-dimensional coordinate is contracted relatively to a lower side the square two-dimensional coordinate in a condition where a diagonal line connecting one end of the upper side of the two-dimensional coordinate to the other end of the lower side of the two-dimensional coordinate is retained straight; and introduction means for obtaining the road map data included in a reverse trapezoid coordinate corresponding with the trapezoid coordinate defined by the trapezoid conversion parameters from the parameter memory means and for introducing the road map data into the trapezoid coordinate such that said image display means displays a road map in the tra vel direction of the vehicle defined by the introduced road map data in the form of a perspective view on the screen. 5. A road map display apparatus as claimed in claim 4, wherein said parameter memory means is provided to memorize a plural steps of trapezoid conversion parameters determined on a basis of the conversion formula, and wherein said introduction means is provide to obtain the road map data included in the a reverse trapezoid coordinate corresponding with the trapezoid coordinate defined by the trapezoid parameters selectively read out from the parameter memory means and to introduce the road map data into the trapezoid coordinate. 6. A machine readable medium for use in a road map display apparatus including a road map information memory for memorizing road map data on a two-dimensional coordinate, detection means for detecting a present position and a travel direction of an own automotive vehicle, read-out means for reading out a two-dimensional coordinate of the road map data from the information memory on a basis of the present position and travel direction of the vehicle detected by the detection means, and image display means for displaying a road map defined by the read out two-dimensional coordinate on a screen, wherein the medium contains program instructions executable by a computer for causing the road map display apparatus to perform the steps of: memorizing trapezoid conversion parameters preliminarily determined on a basis of a conversion formula for converting the two-dimensional coordinate of the road map data to a trapezoid coordinate for display of a perspective view without executing any perspective conversion processing taking into account a viewpoint to a coordinate value of the road map data in such a manner that an upper side of a square two-dimensional coordinate is contracted relatively to a lower side of the square two-dimensional coordinate; obtaining the road map data included in a reverse trapezoid coordinate corresponding with the trapezoid coordinate defined by the trapezoid conversion parameters from the parameter memory means; and introducing the road map data into the trapezoid coordinate such that said image display means displays a road map in the travel direction of the vehicle defined by the introduced road map data in the form of a perspective view on the screen. 7.
