A confectionery composition comprising: (i) an effective amount of a natural plant extract selected from the group consisting of tea, gold thread, honeysuckle, magnolia extracts and mixtures thereof; (ii) a polyphosphate oral care active; (iii) less than about 10% by weight water; and (iv) a confectionery carrier material, which is a chewing gum base. 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the extract is a green tea extract, a magnolia extract and mixtures thereof. 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein the extract comprises greater than about 1%, by weight of the extract, of polyphenol. 4. The composition of claim 3 wherein the extract comprises greater than about 15%, by weight of the extract, of polyphenol. 5. The composition of claim 1 wherein the extract is obtained by solvent extraction and wherein the solvent used for extraction is selected from the group consisting of alcohols, water, acetone, ethyl acetate, glycerol, diethyl ether, propylene glycol and mixtures thereof. 6. The composition of claim 2 wherein the composition comprises from about 0.001% to about 15%, by weight of the composition, of the extract. 7. The composition of claim 6 wherein the composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 5%, by weight of the composition, of the extract. 8. The composition of claim 1 wherein the composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 15%, by weight of the composition, of polyphosphates. 9. The composition of claim 8 wherein the oral care active is polyphosphate having an average anion chain length of from about 3 to about 40. 10. The composition of claim 9 wherein the oral care active is polyphosphate having an average anion chain length of from about 18 to about 25. 11. The composition of claim 10 wherein the polyphosphate is an alkali metal salt. 12. The composition of claim 1 wherein the composition comprises greater than about 10%, by weight of the composition, of gum base. 13. The composition of claim 1 wherein the composition comprises less than about 8%, by weight of the composition, water. 14. The composition of claim 13 wherein the composition comprises less than about 2%, by weight of the composition, water. 15. The composition of claim 1 wherein the composition comprises greater than about 10%, by weight of the composition, of a non cariogenic sweetener selected from the group consisting of maltitol, mannitol, xylitol, sorbitol, sucralose, aspartame and mixtures thereof. 16. The composition of claim 1 wherein the confectionery composition has an outer coating. 17. The composition of claim 16 wherein the oral care active is dispersed throughout the coating.
