The invention provides isolated nucleic acid and amino acid sequences of TL- γ , antibodies to TL- γ , methods of screening for TL- γ modulating using biologically active TL- γ , and kits for screening for TL- γ modulators.

A kit for screening for modulators of Thermomyces lanuginosus gamma kinesin protein activity, wherein said kit comprises:(i) a container holding an isolated protein of claim 1, and(ii) instructions for assaying for at least one Thermomyces lanuginosus gamma kinesin protein activity, wherein the Thermomyces lanuginosus gamma kinesin protein activity is selected from the group consisting of plus end-directed microtubule motor activity, binding activity, and ATPase activity. 6. The kit of claim 5, wherein the protein further comprises amino acid residues 443 to 601 of SEQ ID NO:1. 7. The kit of claim 5, wherein the protein is recombinant. 8. The isolated protein of claim 1, wherein the protein further comprises amino acids 443 to 601 of SEQ ID NO:1. 9. A kit for screening for modulators of Thermomyces lanuginosus gamma kinesin protein activity, wherein said kit comprises:(i) a container holding an isolated protein of claim 4; and(ii) instructions for assaying for at least one Thermomyces lanuginosus gamma kinesin protein activity, wherein the Thermomyces lanuginosus gamma kinesin protein activity is selected from the group consisting of plus end-directed microtubule motor activity, binding activity, and ATPase activity. 10. The isolated protein of claim 1, wherein said isolated protein comprises SEQ ID NO:1. 11. The kit of claim 5, wherein said isolated protein comprises SEQ ID NO:1.
