A method and system that enable mass direct delivery of personalized voice messages to electronic voice storage devices or systems, such as voice mail systems, is disclosed. A single voice service is created and executed and used to generate personalized sound files for a number of users of a voice storage system. A specialized interface is then used to directly deposit the personalized sound files in the voice mail boxes of the appropriate users.

A method for providing one or more individuals with personalized information in an audible format, the method comprising:enabling one or more individuals to subscribe to at least one voice service that can output customized, personalized sound files to voice mail boxes for the one or more individ

A method for providing one or more individuals with personalized information in an audible format, the method comprising:enabling one or more individuals to subscribe to at least one voice service that can output customized, personalized sound files to voice mail boxes for the one or more individuals, wherein the step of subscribing comprises at least receiving personalized information from the one or more individuals, presenting the one or more individuals with a plurality of style properties to be used in generating the personalized sound files, and registering style property selections from the one or more individuals;monitoring a scheduling condition, and when the scheduling condition is satisfied, executing the at least one voice service by:(a) accessing the personalized information for the one or more individuals;(b) generating personalized markup documents for the one or more individuals from the personalized information;(c) generating personalized sound files from the personalized markup documents in accordance with the registered style property selections; and,(d) delivering the personalized sound files to voice mail boxes for the one or more individuals. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of generating personalized sound files comprises the steps of:extracting text from the personalized markup documents;converting the extracted text into a speech output;generating the personalized sound files from the speech output. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of generating personalized sound files comprises generating one or more sound files in a digital audio format. 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of delivering the personalized sound files comprises:addressing the personalized sound files using voice mail box addresses for the one or more individuals;accessing an application program interface (API) for a host voice mail system; and,depositing the personalized sound files in the voice mail boxes of the one or more individuals. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the scheduling condition is specified by the one or more individuals when subscribing to the at least one voice service. 6. The method of claim 5, wherein the scheduling condition comprises at least one of a time-based schedule or a triggering event. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of style properties comprise options pertaining to format of the personalized sound files. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of style properties comprise options pertaining to delivery of the personalized sound files. 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of style properties comprise options pertaining to content of the personalized sound files. 10. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of style properties comprise options pertaining to size of the personalized sound files. 11. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of style properties comprise options pertaining to enhancements to the personalized sound files. 12. The method of claim 11, wherein the enhancements comprise sound effects to be added to the personalized sound files. 13. The method of claim 11, wherein the enhancements comprise music to be added to the personalized sound files. 14. The method of claim 11, wherein the enhancements comprise sound files to be added to the personalized sound files. 15. A system for providing one or more individuals with personalized information in an audible format comprising:means for enabling one or more individuals to subscribe to at least one voice service that can output customized, personalized sound files to voice mail boxes for the one or more individuals by receiving personalized information from the one or more individuals, presenting the one or more individuals with a plurality of style properties to be used in generating the personalized sound files, and registering style property selections from the one or more individuals;means for monitoring a scheduling condition, and when the scheduling condition is s atisfied, executing the at least one voice service via:means for accessing the personalized information for the one or more individuals;means for generating personalized markup documents for the one or more individuals from the personalized information;means for generating personalized sound files from the personalized markup documents in accordance with the registered style property selections; and,means for delivering the personalized sound files to voice mail boxes for the one or more individuals.
