A portable basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly including a first position in which the support base is held in a generally stationary position relative to the playing surface and a second position in which the support base can readily move relative to the playing surface wherein said support base includes an opening in the front portion end of the support base for receiving at least a portion of the first wheel assembly; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly being sized and configured to allow the portable basketball goal system to be moved from one location to another location when the first wheel assembly is in the second position; and an engaging member including a first end and a second end, the engaging member being movable between a playing position and an extended position, the playing position including the first end of the engaging member being generally disposed adjacent to the support pole, at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base contacting the playing surface and the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position, the extended position including the first end of the engaging member being generally spaced away from the support pole, the bottom portion of the support base being generally spaced away from the playing surface, the first wheel assembly being in the second position, and the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly. 2. The portable basketball goal system of claim 1, further comprising an opening in the front portion of the support base for receiving the second end of the support pole.3. The portable basketball goal system of claim 1, wherein the engaging member is generally disposed parallel to the support pole in the playing position.4. The portable basketball goal system of claim 1, wherein the engaging member is disposed at an angle relative to the support pole in the extended position.5. The portable basketball goal system of claim 1, wherein the section of the bottom portion of the support base frictionally engages the playing surface in the playing position to hold the portable basketball goal system in the generally stationary position.6. The portable basketball goal system of claim 1, wherein the first end of the engaging member includes a handle.7. A portable basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly being sized and configured to allow the portable basketball goal system to be moved from one location to another location; and an engaging member including a first end and a second end, the engaging member being movable between a playing position and an extended position, the playing position including the first end of the engaging member being generally disposed adjacent to the support pole, at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base contacting the playing surface and the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position, the extended position including the first end of the engaging member being generally spaced away from the support pole, the bottom portion of the support base being generally spaced away from the playing surface and the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly; wherein the first end of the engaging member engages the support pole in the playing position. 8. A portable basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly being sized and configured to allow the portable basketball goal system to be moved from one location to another location; and an engaging member including a first end and a second end, the engaging member being movable between a playing position and an extended position, the playing position including the first end of the engaging member being generally disposed adjacent to the support pole, at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base contacting the playing surface and the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position, the extended position including the first end of the engaging member being generally spaced away from the support pole, the bottom portion of the support base being generally spaced away from the playing surface and the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly; and a fastener that fastens the first end of the engaging member to the support pole in the playing position. 9. The portable basketball goal system of claim 1, wherein the lower portion of the support base remains generally parallel to the playing surface in both the playing position and the extended position.10. The portable basketball goal system of claim 1, wherein no substantial tilting of the support base is required when moving the portable basketball goal system from one location to another location.11. A basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly including a first position in which the support base is held in a generally stationary position relative to the playing surface and a second position in which the support base can readily move relative to the playing surface; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base, the basketball goal system being sized and configured to be moved from one location to another location by simultaneously rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly when the first wheel assembly is in the second position; and an engaging member including a first end, a second end and being capable of being moved between a first position and a second position relative to the support pole, the first position including at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base contacting the playing surface and the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position, the second position including the bottom portion of the support base being generally spaced away from the playing surface and the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by simultaneously rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly when the first wheel assembly is in the second position. 12. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein the first end of the engaging member is generally disposed adjacent to the support pole when the engaging member is in the first position.13. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein the first end of the engaging member is generally spaced away from the support pole when the engaging member is in the second position.14. The basketball goal system of claim 11, further comprising an opening in the front portion of the support base for receiving the second end of the support pole.15. The basketball goal system of claim 11, further comprising an opening in the front portion of the support base for receiving at least a portion of the first wheel assembly.16. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein the engaging member is generally disposed parallel to the support pole in the first position.17. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein the engaging member is disposed at an angle relative to the support pole in the second position.18. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein the section of the bottom portion of the support base frictionally engages the playing surface in the first position to hold the portable basketball goal system in the generally stationary position.19. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein the first end of the engaging member includes a handle.20. A basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base, the basketball goal system being sized and configured to be moved from one location to another location by simultaneously rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly; and an engaging member including a first end, a second end and being capable of being moved between a first position and a second position relative to the support pole, the first position including at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base contacting the playing surface and the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position, the second position including the bottom portion of the support base being generally spaced away from the playing surface and the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location; wherein the first end of the engaging member engages the support pole in the first position. 21. A basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface: a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base, the basketball goal system being sized and configured to be moved from one location to another location by simultaneously rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly; and an engaging member including a first end, a second end and being capable of being moved between a first position and a second position relative to the support pole, the first position including at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base contacting the playing surface and the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position, the second position including the bottom portion of the support base being generally spaced away from the playing surface and the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location; and a fastener that fastens the first end of the engaging member to the support pole in the first position. 22. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein the lower portion of the support base remains generally parallel to the playing surface in both the first position and the second position.23. The basketball goal system of claim 11, wherein no substantial tilting of the support base is required when moving the portable basketball goal system from one location to another location.24. A basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly including a first position in which the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface and a second position in which the first wheel assembly contacts the playing surface; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base; and an engaging member including a first end and a second end, the engaging member being capable of being moved between a first position and a second position relative to the support pole, the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position in the first position of the engaging member and the first wheel assembly because the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface, the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly in the second position of the engaging member and the first wheel assembly; wherein at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base contacts the playing surface in the first position. 25. A basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly including a first position in which the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface and a second position in which the first wheel assembly contacts the slaying surface; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base; and an engaging member including a first end and a second end, the engaging member being capable of being moved between a first position and a second position relative to the support pole, the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position in the first position of the engaging member and the first wheel assembly because the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface, the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly in the second position of the engaging member and the first wheel assembly; wherein the first end of the engaging member is generally disposed adjacent to the support pole when the engaging member is in the first position. 26. A basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly including a first position in which the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface and a second position in which the first wheel assembly contacts the playing surface; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base; and an engaging member including a first end and a second end, the engaging member being capable of being moved between a first position and a second position relative to the support pole, the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position in the first position of the engaging member and the first wheel assembly because the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface, the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second wheel assembly in the second position of the engaging member and the first wheel assembly; wherein at least a section of the bottom portion of the support base frictionally engages the playing surface in the first. 27. A basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole including a first end and a second end; a basketball goal connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion and a bottom portion; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate the front portion of the support base; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate the rear portion of the support base; and an engaging member including a first end and a second end, the engaging member being capable of being moved between a first position and a second position relative to the support pole, the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position in the first position because the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface, the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location by rolling on the first wheel assembly and the second assembly wheel in the second position; wherein the first end of the engaging member engages the support pole in the first position. 28. A portable basketball system comprising:a support pole with a first end and a second end; a basketball goal assembly connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball assembly including a backboard and a rim located a distance above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion, a top surface and a bottom surface; a first wheel assembly including at least one wheel attached to the front portion of the support base; a second wheel assembly including at least one wheel attached to the rear portion of the support base; and an engaging member movable between a playing position and an extended position relative to the support base, the support base being movable when the engaging member is in the playing position and the support base being held in a generally fixed position when the engaging member is in the extended position; wherein the engaging member engages a portion of the support pole in the playing position. 29. A portable basketball system comprising:a support pole with a first end and a second end; a basketball goal assembly connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball assembly including a backboard and a rim located a distance above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion, a top surface and a bottom surface; a first wheel assembly including at least one wheel attached to the front portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly being movable between a first position in which the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface and the support base is held in a generally stationary position relative to the playing surface and a second position in which the first wheel assembly does contact the playing surface and the support base is readily movable relative to the playing surface; a second wheel assembly including at least one wheel attached to the rear portion of the support base; and an engaging member connected to the first wheel assembly and being movable between a playing position in which the first wheel assembly is in the first position and at least a portion of the bottom surface of the support base frictionally engages the playing surface and an extended position in which the first wheel assembly is in the second position and the portion of the bottom surface of the support base does not frictionally engage the playing surface. 30. A portable basketball system comprising:a support pole with a first end and a second end; a basketball goal assembly connected to the first end of the support pole, the basketball assembly including a backboard and a rim located a distance above a playing surface; a support base connected to the second end of the support pole, the support base including a front portion, a rear portion, a top surface and a bottom surface; a first wheel assembly including at least one wheel attached to the front portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly being movable between a first position in which the first wheel assembly does not contact the playing surface and the support base is held in a generally stationary position relative to the playing surface and a second position in which the first wheel assembly does contact the playing surface and the support base is readily movable relative to the playing surface; a second wheel assembly including at least one wheel attached to the rear portion of the support base; and an engaging member connected to the first wheel assembly and being movable between a playing position in which the first wheel assembly is in the first position and an extended position relative to the support base in which the first wheel assembly is in the second position wherein pivoting movement of the engaging member between the playing position and the extended position causes the first wheel assembly to be moved between the first position and the second position. 31. A portable basketball goal system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball goal system comprising:a support pole; a basketball goal connected to the support pole, the basketball goal being positioned above a playing surface; a support base connected to the support pole, the support base including an internal cavity that is capable of being filled with a ballast material; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate a first portion of the support base, the first wheel assembly including a first position in which the support base is held in a generally stationary position relative to the playing surface and a second position in which the support base is readily movable relative to the playing surface; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate a second portion of the support base; and an engaging member that is capable of moving the first wheel assembly between the first position and the second position, the first position also including at least a portion of the support base contacting the playing surface and the portable basketball goal system being held in a generally stationary position, the second position also including the support base being generally spaced away from the playing surface and the portable basketball system being capable of being moved from one location to another location. 32. The portable basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein the engaging member is generally disposed parallel to the support pole in the first position.33. The portable basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein the engaging member is disposed at an angle relative to the support pole in the second position.34. The portable basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein the lower portion of the support base remains generally parallel to the playing surface in both the playing position and the extended position.35. The portable basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein no substantial tilting of the support base is required when moving the portable basketball goal system from one location to another location.36. The basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein the support base is constructed from plastic.37. The basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein a first end of the engaging member is generally disposed adjacent to the support pole when the engaging member is in the first position.38. The basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein a first end of the engaging member is generally spaced away from the support pole when the engaging member is in the second position.39. The basketball goal system of claim 31, wherein at least a portion of the support base frictionally engages the playing surface in the first position to hold the portable basketball goal system in a generally fixed location.40. A portable basketball system that is capable of being moved from one location to another location, the portable basketball system comprising:an elongated support that is sized and configured to support a basketball goal above a playing surface; a base that is sized and configured to support the elongated support in a generally upward direction, the base including a hollow interior portion that is sized and configured to be filled with a ballast material; a wheel assembly that is movable between a first position in which the base is held in a generally stationary position relative to the playing surface and a second position in which the base can readily be moved relative to the playing surface; and an engaging member with an elongated body that moves the wheel assembly between the first position and the second position to facilitate movement of the base relative to the playing surface, the engaging member including a first end that is sized and configured to be grasped by a user, the first end of the engaging member being disposed proximate to the elongated support when the first wheel assembly is in the first position, the first end of the engaging member being disposed away from the elongated support when the first wheel assembly is in the second position. 41. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, wherein the engaging member includes a second end that is pivotally connected to the support pole.42. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, wherein the engaging member includes a second end that is pivotally connected to the support base.43. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, wherein the first end of the engaging member includes a handle.44. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, further comprising a lower portion of the base, at least a substantial portion of the lower portion of the base being in contact with the playing surface when the first wheel assembly is in the first position and at least a substantial portion of the lower portion of the base being spaced apart from the playing surface when the first wheel assembly is in the second position.45. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, further comprising a second wheel assembly.46. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, further comprising a receiving portion that extends completely through a portion of the base; further comprising an end of the elongated support being at least partially disposed within the receiving portion; and further comprising the wheel assembly being at least partially disposed within the receiving portion when the wheel assembly is in the first position.47. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, wherein the wheel assembly is disposed generally underneath the pole.48. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, wherein the pole is pivotally connected to the base.49. The portable basketball system as in claim 40, further comprising a cross brace member that connects the pole to the base and connects the engaging member to the pole.50. A portable basketball system comprising:an elongated support that supports a basketball goal above a playing surface; a base that supports the elongated support in a generally upward direction, the base including a generally hollow interior portion that is sized and configured to be filled with ballast and lower portion that is sized and configured to contact the playing surface; a first wheel assembly disposed proximate one end of the base, the first wheel assembly being movable between a first position in which the base is held in a generally stationary position relative to the playing surface and a second position in which the base is readily movable relative to the playing surface; a second wheel assembly disposed proximate another end of the base; and an engaging member that moves the first wheel assembly between the first position and the second position, the engaging member also moving the base between a first position in which a lower portion of the base contacts the playing surface and a second position in which the lower portion of the base is spaced apart from the playing surface. 51. The portable basketball system as in claim 50, further comprising one end of the engaging member that is pivotally connected to the elongated support, the other end of the engaging member being disposed proximate the elongated support when the engaging member is in the first position and the other end of the engaging member being disposed away from the elongated support when the engaging member is in the second position.52. The portable basketball system as in claim 50, further comprising one end of the engaging member that is pivotally connected to the base, the other end of the engaging member being disposed proximate the elongated support when the engaging member is in the first position and the other end of the engaging member being disposed away from the elongated support when the engaging member is in the second position.53. The portable basketball system as in claim 50, further comprising a receiving portion in the base, an end of the elongated member being at least partially disposed within the receiving portion and at least a portion of the first wheel assembly being disposed within the receiving portion when the first wheel assembly is in the first position.54. The portable basketball system as in claim 50, wherein the first wheel assembly is generally disposed underneath the elongated member.55. The portable basketball system as in claim 50, wherein the engaging member is disposed generally parallel to the elongated support when the engaging member is in the playing position and the engaging member is disposed at an angle relative to the elongated support when the engaging member is in the extended position.56. The portable basketball system as in claim 50, further comprising a member that connects the elongated support to the base and the engaging member to the elongated support.
