The partition walls divide a space between the front plate and the back plate into a plurality of display cells. Each of the partition walls has a plurality of projections opposing one of the front plate and the back plate. The projections are arranged such that the projections do not overlap the at least one electrode disposed on the one of the front plate and the back plate.

What is claimed is: 1. A driving method of a plasma display panel which has a first plate having a first main surface, a second plate having a second main surface and being opposed to the first plate to form a gap between the first main surface and the second main surface, a plurality of first electrodes formed on the first main surface to be extended in a first direction and juxtaposed in a second direction transverse to the first direction, a plurality of second electrodes formed on the first main surface to be extended in the second direction and juxtaposed in the first direction, and a third electrode formed on the second main surface to oppose respective intersections of the plurality of first electrodes and the plurality of second electrodes where respective display cells are located, the driving method comprising following operations sequentially in a sub-field: an all writing operation for applying voltage signals to the plurality of first electrodes and the plurality of second electrodes, the voltage signal applied to the second electrodes and the voltage signal applied to the first electrodes in response thereto have reversed polarity; an addressing operation for applying voltage signals to the first electrodes and the second electrodes, the voltage signal applied to the first electrode and the voltage signal applied to the second electrode have reversed polarity if the display cell corresponding to the intersections thereof is selected, while the voltage signal applied to the first electrode and the voltage signal applied to the second electrode have same polarity if the display cell corresponding to the intersections thereof is not selected; a sustaining operation for repeating a plurality of steps for applying voltage signals to the second electrodes and the third electrode, each polarity of the voltage signals applied to the second electrodes and the third electrode is reversed alternately for each of the plurality of steps, and the polarity of the voltage signal applied to the second electrodes is opposite to the polarity of the voltage signal applied to the third electrode in the each of the plurality of steps, and an extinguishing operation for applying voltage signals to the first electrodes and the second electrodes, the voltage signal applied to the second electrodes and the voltage signal applied to the first electrodes in response thereto have reversed polarity.
