A monomer having the structure of Formula IV wherein each D is a reactive group independently selected from chlorine, bromine, iodine, boronic acid, and boronic ester; wherein--Ar1(Ey)a-is selected from Formulas CLXV and CLXVI wherein Ry is independently in each case fluoro, C1-20 fluoroalkyl, C1-20 perfluoroalkyl, C1-20 alkyl, C1-20 alkenyl, C6-20 aryl, C3-20 heteroaryl, or C1-30 hydrocarbyl containing one or more S, N, O, P, or Si atoms; n is 0, 1, or 2; a is 1 or 2; Ey is Formula III where X is selected from--O--,--S--, and--N(R1)-- wherein R1 is alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, or heteroalkyl; wherein each R2 is independently alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, fluoro, aryl, fluoroalkyl, heteroalkyl, or heteroaryl; wherein b is 0, 1,or 2; wherein Ar2 is a carbocyclic aryl group selected from phenyl, biphenyl, naphthyl, anthracenyl, fluorenyl, 9-silafluorenyl, spirobisfluorenyl, dihydrophenanthrolinyl, dihydropyrenyl, tetrahydropyrenyl, pyrenyl, and perylenyl; and wherein Ar2 is unsubstituted or substituted on one or more of the aromatic rings with one or more groups selected from alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, fluoro, aryl, fluoroalkyl, heteroalkyl, heteroaryl, alkyloxadiazolyl, aryloxadiazolyl, alkyltriazolyl, aryltriazolyl, and hydrocarbyl containing on or more S, N, O, P, or Si atoms. 2. A monomer of claim 1 wherein--Ar1 (Ey)a-is selected from formulas CXI-CXIII wherein X is selected from--O--,--S--, and--N(R1). 3. A monomer selected from the group consisting of Compounds 1, 2, and 4-14 4. A monomer having the structure of Formula IV wherein each D is a reactive group independently selected from chlorine, bromine, iodine, boronic acid, and boronic ester; wherein--Ar1 (Ey)a-is selected from Formulas XIV-XLIII wherein each of the Formulas XIV-XLIII is independently unsubstituted or substituted on one or more of the aromatic rings with one or more Ry; wherein each Ry is independently selected from fluoro, C1-20 fluoroalkyl, C1-20 perfluoroalkyl, C1-20 alkyl, C1-20 alkenyl, C6-20 carbocyclic aryl, C3-20 heteroaryl, and C1-30 hydrocarbyl containing one or more S, N, O, P, or Si atoms; wherein each R3 is independently selected from hydrogen, C1-30 alkyl, C1-30 alkenyl, C6-20 carbocyclic aryl, C3-20 heteroaryl, or C1-30 hydrocarbyl containing one or more S, N, O, P, or Si atoms; wherein 1 or 2 Ey groups are present; wherein each Ey is independently selected from groups having the structures of Formulas II and III wherein X is O, S, or NR1, where R1 is alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, or heteroalkyl; wherein each R2 is independently selected from alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, fluoro, aryl, fluoroalkyl, heteroalkyl, and heteroaryl; wherein b is 0, 1, or 2; wherein Ar2 is a carbocyclic aryl group selected from phenyl, biphenyl, naphthyl, anthracenyl, fluorenyl, 9-silafluorenyl, spirobisfluorenyl, dihydrophenanthrolinyl, dihydropyrenyl, tetrahydropyrenyl, pyrenyl, and perylenyl; and wherein Ar2 is unsubstituted or substituted on one or more of the aromatic rings with one or more groups selected from alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, fluoro, aryl, fluoroalkyl, heteroalkyl, heteroaryl, alkyloxadiazolyl, aryloxadiazolyl, alkyltriazolyl, aryltriazolyl, and hydrocarbyl containing one or more S, N, O, P, or Si atoms. 5. A monomer of claim 4, wherein the monomer is selected from Formulas CXVII, CXVIII, and CXIX wherein Q is phenylene or a bond; Rz is present or not present; and each Rz is independently selected from fluoro, C 1-20 fluoroalkyl, C1-20 perfluoroalkyl, C1-20 alkyl, C1-20 alkenyl, C6-20 aryl, C3-20 heteroaryl, C1-30 hydrocarbyl containing one or more S, N, O, P, or Si atoms; C3-30 alkyloxadiazolyl, C3-30 aryloxadiazolyl, C3-30 alkyltriazolyl, and C3-30 aryltriazolyl. 6.
