A piezoelectric device having a piezoelectric film and methods of making such. The piezoelectric device can be used in circuits to dampen or dissipate vibrations in equipment such as racquets, and ski apparatus.

What is claimed is: 1. A circuit comprising: a piezoelectric device, said piezoelectric device comprising a piezoelectric film and at least two electrodes, said piezoelectric film comprising a piezoelectric material and a flexible matrix material; a member, wherein said electrodes are placed at or near the maximum bending area of said member; a metal wire, said metal wire connected to said piezoelectric device, said wire adapted to generate heat, wherein said piezoelectric device is adapted to generate an electric potential to dissipate said vibrations through said wire; whereby vibrations in said member can be dissipated as heat; and wherein said member is a ski apparatus. 2. A circuit comprising: a piezoelectric device, said piezoelectric device comprising a piezoelectric film and at least two electrodes, said piezoelectric film comprising a piezoelectric material and a flexible matrix material; a member, wherein said electrodes are laminated to said member; and a metal wire, said metal wire connected to said piezoelectric device, said wire adapted to generate heat, wherein said piezoelectric device is adapted to generate an electric potential to dissipate said vibrations through said wire; whereby vibrations in said member can be dissipated as heat; and wherein said member is a ski apparatus. 3. A circuit comprising: a piezoelectric device, said piezoelectric device comprising a piezoelectric film and at least two electrodes said piezoelectric film comprising a piezoelectric material and a flexible matrix material; a member, wherein said electrodes contact said member; and a metal wire, said metal wire connected to said piezoelectric device, said wire adapted to generate heat, wherein said piezoelectric device is adapted to generate an electric potential to dissipate said vibrations through said wire; whereby vibrations in said member can be dissipated as heat; and wherein said member is a ski apparatus. 4. The circuit of claim 3 wherein: said wire runs through an edge or a core of the ski apparatus. 5. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said member includes carbon fibers. 6. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said member comprises a resistance and a natural frequency, whereby said vibrations are dampened by tuning said circuit to said natural frequency of said member. 7. The circuit of claim 6 wherein said resistance can be adjusted by positioning carbon fibers within said member. 8. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said piezoelectric device is adapted to generate an electric potential, whereby said vibrations are dampened by adjusting said electrical potential to tune said circuit to a frequency of said vibrations. 9. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said piezoelectric material includes two or more of lead oxide, zirconium oxide, and titanium oxide. 10. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said piezoelectric material includes lead oxide, zirconium oxide, and titanium oxide. 11. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said piezoelectric material comprises at least one piezoelectric material chosen from ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, barium sodium niobate, barium titanate, barium titanate (poled), litium niobate, lithium tantalite, lead zirconate titanate (such as PZT-2, PZT-4, PZT-4D, PZT-5H, PZT-5J, PZT-7A, PZT-8), quartz, Rochelle salt, bismuth germanate, cadmium sulfide, gallium arsenide, tellurium dioxide, zinc oxide, and zinc sulfide. 12. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said electrodes form a uniform pattern on the member. 13. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said electrodes form an interdigitated pattern on the member. 14. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said member includes pre-impregnated fibers. 15. The circuit of claim 14 wherein the fibers are unidirectional. 16. The circuit of claim 3 wherein said member includes at least one carbon fiber layer. 17. The circuit of claim 16 wherein fibers within the carbon fiber layer are oriented to control a resistance of the carbon fiber layer. 18. The circuit of claim 14 wherein said electrodes are positioned such that a lowest resistance path is formed between said electrodes that are oriented parallel to the fibers. 19. The circuit of claim 16 wherein the carbon fiber layer is on an external surface of the member, and the carbon fibers are substantially parallel with each other. 20. The circuit of claim 3 wherein the member comprises a resistance, and the resistance is adjusted by positioning fibers within the member. 21. The circuit of claim 20 wherein the resistance is adjusted to a value that maximizes the dampening effects piezoelectric material. 22. The circuit of claim 3 further defined by a frequency, wherein the frequency of the circuit is selected to generate an electric potential that is capable of dampening vibration. 23. The circuit of claim 3, wherein the member comprises a resistance and a natural frequency, and wherein the resistance is adjusted to facilitate tuning of the circuit to match the natural frequency. 24. The circuit of claim 3, wherein vibration dampening in the member is facilitating by tuning the circuit. 25. The circuit of claim 24, wherein the circuit is tuned to a frequency corresponding to a natural frequency of the member to facilitate dampening.
