The carrier as described in claim 1 wherein one of the support shelves includes a plurality of holes defined through the planar section thereof. 3. The carrier as described in claim 1 wherein on of the support shelves is a basket. 4. The carrier as described in claim 1 wherein the first and second load-supporting bars of said outrigger element include notches. 5. The carrier as described in claim 1 wherein each of the first and second load-supporting bars of said outrigger unit are fixed to the crossbrace-engaging hooks to extend at an oblique angle with respect to the crossbrace-engaging hooks of said outrigger unit. 6. The carrier as described in claim 1 further including a tie down strap associated with said outer load-bearing unit. 7. The carrier as described in claim 1 further including a tie-down strap associated with at least one support shelf.
