Easy to attach and detach blades for overhead ceiling fans. A first version has a ceiling fan blade with keyhole slots that fit over flat topped fasteners on a mounting arm. Pulling the blade away from the arm locks the slots to the fasteners. A second version is similar to the first and has a decorative bottom cover having snappable tapered protrusions which attach through the keyholes and into mateable through-holes in the mounting arm connection. The third version has a protruding end portion of the blade that fits into a slot in the mounting arm where spring loaded pistons press into grooves in the protrusion end portion of the blade. Latching handles allow users to manually move the pistons. A fourth version has a slot in the blade which fits about a mateable housing in the mounting arm where opposing spring loaded pistons press into interior wall grooves in the slot of the blade. A fifth version has the blade with slots fit over the end of the mounting arm so that pulling the blade from the mounting arm causes spring loaded piston to interlock into a interior wall groove in the slot of the blade.

We claim: 1. A ceiling fan, comprising: a plurality of fan blades, each blade having an exterior end and a connecting end; a ceiling fan motor with a rotating member; a plurality of mounting arms, each mounting arm having an interior end, a mid-portion, and an exterior end, the interior end being pre-attached to the rotating member of the motor; and a fastener and a receptacle for fastening each of the connecting ends of each blade to each of the exterior ends of each mounting arm, each fastener includes a protruding member with an enlarged head portions above a stem portion, and the receptacle includes a slot having a wide opening and a narrow opening, wherein each protruding members is inserted into each wide opening of each slot, and wherein each protruding member and each slots are slid relative to one another causing the stem portion of the protruding member to slide within the narrow opening of the slot, so that the blades are fastened to the mounting arms by each fastener and each receptacle. 2. The ceiling fan of claim 1, wherein the fastener and the receptacle for fastening each blade to each arm includes: three protruding members arranged in a triangular configuration, that simultaneously insert into the wide openings of three slots arranged in a triangular configuration. 3. The ceiling fan of claim 1, wherein each slot includes: a keyhole shape. 4. The ceiling fan of claim 1, wherein the protruding members each include: a portion that is pre-attached to the exterior ends of a respective mounting arms. 5. A method of assembling a ceiling fan, comprising the steps of: providing a ceiling fan motor with a rotating member; providing a plurality of mounting arms, each mounting arm having an interior end attached to the rotating member and an exterior end extending away from the rotating member; providing a plurality of ceiling fan blades, each ceiling fan blade having a connecting end and an exterior end; providing fasteners and receptacles adjacent to the exterior ends of the mounting arms, and adjacent to the connecting ends of the blades; providing protruding members with enlarged heads as the fasteners and slots having a wide opening portion and a smaller opening portion as the receptacles; and fastening each of the connecting ends of the blades to each of the exterior ends of the mounting arms by inserting portions of the fasteners into the receptacles and sliding portions of the fasteners and the receptacles relative to one another. 6. The method of claim 5, wherein the fastening step further includes the steps of: positioning the connecting end of each ceiling fan blade next to the exterior end of each mounting arm that is attached to the ceiling fan motor. 7. The method of claim 5, further comprising the step of: providing keyhole shaped slots as the receptacles. 8. The method of claim 5, further comprising the step of: pre-attaching the fasteners to the exterior ends of the mounting arms. 9. The method of claim 5, wherein the step of providing the fasteners and the receptacles includes the steps of: providing three fasteners arranged in a triangular configuration adjacent to each connecting end of each blade, and adjacent to each exterior end of each mounting arm; providing three receptacles arranged in a triangular configuration adjacent to each connecting end of each blade, and adjacent to each exterior end of each mounting arm. 10. A ceiling fan, comprising: a motor; a plurality of mounting arms, each mounting arm including a curved ceiling fan motor mount and a blade mounting portion interconnected by a narrow connecting arm portion, the curved fan motor mount being pre-attached to said motor; a plurality of fan blades; fasteners having headed protrusions to couple with corresponding slots arranged to secure each respective said fan blade to the respective said blade mounting portion of the respective said mounting arm, each said headed protrusion including a larger diameter head and a small diameter stem and each slot including a wide diameter base dimensioned to allow said larger diameter head to pass therethrough and a narrow longitudinal portion dimensioned to allow said small diameter stem to slide therein with an underside of said larger diameter head engaging an upper edge of said narrow longitudinal portion to couple said slot to said headed protrusion, whereby each said fan blades is removably secured to respective said mounting arms. 11. The ceiling fan of claim 10, wherein each of the blade mounting portions includes: a flat surface portion. 12. The ceiling fan of claim 10, wherein the headed protrusions include: a selected configuration arrangement, and the slots include a matching selected configuration arrangement, wherein the headed protrusions and the slots are located adjacent to connecting ends of the blades and adjacent to the blade mounting portions of the mounting arms. 13. The ceiling fan of claim 12, wherein the selected configuration and the matching selected configuration include a triangular configuration. 14. The ceiling fan of claim 10, wherein the fasteners are pre-attached to the blade mounting portions of the mounting arms. 15. A ceiling fan assembly, comprising: a ceiling fan motor having a plurality of mounting members extending radially outward from the motor, the mounting members having exterior blade mounting ends; a plurality of ceiling fan blades; and fasteners and slots for fastening the ceiling fan blades to the exterior blade mounting ends of the mounting arms, the fasteners including protrusions with enlarged heads over narrow diameter stems, whereby inserting portions of the fasteners into the slots and sliding the portions of the fasteners relative to the slots, fastens the blades to the mounting members of the motor. 16. The ceiling fan assembly of claim 15, wherein the slots include: keyhole shapes. 17. The ceiling fan assembly of claim 15, wherein the mounting members include: mounting arms having an enlarged curved end attached to the motor. 18. The ceiling fan assembly of claim 15, wherein the fasteners and the slots include: triangular arrangements of fasteners and matching triangular arrangements of slots, for fastening each of the blades to each of the mounting members.
