What is claimed is: 1. A medical device, comprising: a first cardiac tissue fastener having a first lock at a proximal end of the first cardiac tissue fastener, the first cardiac tissue fastener configured to be compressed by a first sheath, wherein the first sheath includes at least one aligner on an inner lumen therein; a second cardiac tissue fastener having a second lock at a proximal end of the second cardiac tissue fastener, the second cardiac tissue fastener configured to be compressed by a second sheath, wherein the second sheath includes at least one aligner on an inner lumen therein; and a chord coupled to the first cardiac tissue fastener and the second cardiac tissue fastener, wherein a pulling of the chord slidably engages the first lock to the second lock in a telescoping manner to adjust a distance between the first cardiac tissue fastener and the second cardiac tissue fastener, wherein when the first cardiac tissue fastener is extended from the first sheath, the first cardiac tissue fastener is released and the first sheath facilitates locking of the first cardiac tissue fastener in place by sliding over a portion of the first cardiac tissue fastener, and wherein when the second cardiac tissue fastener is extended from the second sheath, the second cardiac tissue fastener is released and the second sheath facilitates locking of the second cardiac tissue fastener in place by sliding over a portion of the second cardiac tissue fastener. 2. The medical device of claim 1, wherein the first cardiac tissue fastener and the second cardiac tissue fastener are adapted for percutaneous insertion to a cardiac region. 3. The medical device of claim 2, wherein the cardiac region comprises a mitral valve. 4. The medical device of claim 1 wherein the first and second cardiac tissue fasteners comprise a c-shaped clip. 5. The medical device of claim 1 wherein the first and second cardiac tissue fasteners are made of a shape memory metal. 6. The medical device of claim 2, further comprising a catheter to house the first and second cardiac tissue fasteners. 7. The medical device of claim 2, further comprising a control mechanism to control the first and second cardiac tissue fasteners. 8. The medical device of claim 2, wherein the first lock comprises a male-type lock and the second lock comprises a female-type lock. 9. The medical device of claim 8, wherein the first lock comprises an elongated member having a plurality of ridges on an outer surface. 10. The medical device of claim 8, wherein the second lock comprises an elongated member having an inner surface that is compatible with the outer surface of the first lock. 11. The medical device of claim 1, wherein the chord is trackable within the first lock and the second lock. 12. A medical device, comprising: a first fastener assembly, comprising: a first fastener; a first lock connected to a proximal end of the first fastener; and a first housing that contains the first fastener, the first fastener configured to be compressed by the first housing, wherein the first housing includes at least one aligner in a first lumen therein; a second fastener assembly, comprising: a second fastener; a second lock connected to a proximal end of the second fastener; and a second housing that contains the second fastener, the second fastener configured to be compressed by the second housing, wherein the second housing includes at least one aligner in a second lumen therein; and a chord coupled to the first fastener and the second fastener, the chord trackable through the first lock and the second lock, wherein a pulling of the chord enables a distance between the first fastener and the second fastener to be adjusted percutaneously by slidable engagement of the first lock with the second lock in a telescoping manner, wherein when the first fastener is extended from the first housing, the first fastener is released and the first housing facilitates locking of the first fastener in place by sliding over the proximal end of the first fastener, and wherein when the second fastener is extended from the second housing, the second fastener is released and the second housing facilitates locking of the second fastener in place by sliding over the proximal end of the second fastener. 13. The medical device of claim 12, wherein the first lumen of the first housing is adapted to receive a first mandrel to release the first fastener. 14. The medical device of claim 13, wherein the second lumen of the second housing is adapted to receive a second mandrel to release the second fastener. 15. The medical device of claim 12, wherein the first lock comprises a male-type lock and the second lock comprises a female-type lock to engage compatibly. 16. The medical device of claim 15, wherein the first and second fasteners are c-shaped. 17. The medical device of claim 16, wherein the first and second fasteners are adapted to grasp a mitral valve leaflet. 18. The medical device of claim 16, wherein the first and second fasteners are adapted to grasp a cardiac tissue. 19. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising at least one aligner within a first lumen of the first sheath and at least one aligner within a second lumen of the second sheath, wherein the aligners are configured for engaging and orienting the first and second cardiac tissue fasteners.
