The housing includes a fan assembly (which is integral to the housing) to draw in air. The plate is coupled to the housing to create an air channel between the plate and the housing and the second plated is coupled to the housing to create a second air channel between the second plate and the housing. The fan assembly draws in air through one of the air channel or the second air channel and moves air out through the other of the air channel and the second air channel to cool down the temperature of the power adapter.

What is claimed is: 1. A power adapter, comprising: a housing, the housing including a cutout, said cutout being a hole cut through the housing; a fan assembly, located in the cutout of the housing, and coupled to the housing; and a circuit board coupled to the fan assembly, said circuit board activating the fan assembly after the power adapter exceeds a threshold, a plate coupled to the housing to create a plenum between the plate and the housing; a second plate coupled to the housing to create a second plenum between the second plate and the housing, the fan assembly drawing air in through the plenum and moving the air through the second plenum. 2. The power adapter of claim 1, wherein the threshold is an output current threshold. 3. The power adapter of claim 1, wherein the threshold is a power adapter surface temperature threshold. 4. The power adapter of claim 1, wherein the threshold is a power adapter internal operating temperature. 5. A power adapter, comprising: a housing, the housing including a cutout, said cutout being a hole cut through the housing; a fan assembly, located in the cutout of the housing, and coupled to the housing; and a circuit board being coupled to an input port that receives power from a power source, an output port for transmitting power to an electronic device, and the fan assembly, said circuit board activating the fan assembly once the power adapter receives power via the input port, and a plate coupled to the housing to create a plenum between the plate and the housing; and a second plate coupled to the housing to create a second plenum between the second plate and the housing, the fan assembly drawing air in through the plenum and moving the air through the second plenum. 6. A power adapter, comprising: a housing, the housing including a cutout, said cutout being a hole cut through the housing; a fan assembly, located in the cutout of the housing, and coupled to the housing; and a circuit board coupled to the fan assembly, said circuit board activating the fan assembly at a predetermined time after the power adapter receives power via an input port, and a plate coupled to the housing to create a plenum between the plate and the housing; and a second plate coupled to the housing to create a second plenum between the second plate and the housing, the fan assembly drawing air in through the plenum and moving the air through the second plenum. 7. The power adapter of claim 6, wherein the circuit board continues to operate the fan assembly for a second predetermined time after the predetermined time and turns the fan assembly off once the second predetermined time has elapsed. 8. A power adapter, comprising: a housing, the housing including a circuit board including a plurality of input terminals for receiving power from an input power source, a plurality of output terminals, a number of the plurality of output terminals for outputting power to an electronic device, a transformer section, a power factor control section, a secondary rectification and output regulation section, and a power switching section; and a fan assembly coupled to the circuit board; and a plate coupled to the housing, the plate creating an air channel between the plate and the housing, wherein the fan assembly moves air through the air channel to cool a temperature of the power adapter and the fan assembly is located on a same side of the transformer section as the power factor section and the power switching section. 9. The power adapter of claim 8, wherein the circuit board activates the fan assembly if the power adapter exceeds a threshold. 10. The power adapter of claim 9, wherein the threshold is an output current threshold. 11. The power adapter of claim 9, wherein the threshold is a power adapter surface temperature threshold. 12. The power adapter of claim 9, wherein the threshold is a power adapter operating temperature threshold. 13. A power adapter, comprising: a housing, the housing including a circuit board including a plurality of input terminals for receiving power from an input power source, a plurality of output terminals, a number of the plurality of output terminals for outputting power to an electronic device, a transformer section, a power factor control section, a secondary rectification and output regulation section, and a power switching section; and a fan assembly coupled to the circuit board; and a plate coupled to the housing, the plate creating an air channel between the plate and the housing, wherein the fan assembly moves air through the air channel to cool a temperature of the power adapter. 14. The power adapter of claim 13, wherein the circuit board activates the fan assembly if the power adapter exceeds a threshold. 15. The power adapter of claim 13, wherein the threshold is an output current threshold. 16. The power adapter of claim 13, wherein the threshold is a power adapter surface temperature threshold. 17. The power adapter of claim 13, wherein the threshold is a power adapter operating temperature threshold.
