A vaporizer apparatus for vaporizing medical herbs and essences is described that uses an electrical power driven medium to vaporize the herbs and essences. The vaporizer apparatus has a heating element assembly mounted at an angle within an enclosure. The heating element assembly also includes an insulating shield which covers the heating element and which has a mating section for mating with a hand piece. The hand piece includes a vaporization chamber where herbs are packed, an inlet for connecting with the mating section of the shield, and an outlet for inhalation by a user. Methods for using the vaporizer apparatus is also discussed.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for extracting active ingredients, said method comprising the steps: powering up a vaporizer apparatus by plugging a power cord into a power outlet, the vaporizer apparatus comprising a heating element assembly controllable by a power regulator positioned within an interior space of a housing, which comprises a base wall configured to be placed generally parallel to a support surface; loading a hand piece with a carrier by pushing the carrier against a screen located within the hand piece and moving the hand piece at a non-right angle relative to the base to place the hand piece in communication with the heating element located inside an access opening; providing a heated air stream to the carrier to heat the carrier to a temperature that is higher than ambient temperature to extract active ingredients from the carrier; and wherein the heating element assembly is mounted to a mounting assembly, which has a generally planar mounting surface, positioned at an angle relative to the base. 2. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising the step of adjusting the power regulator to either increase or decrease a temperature output of the heating element assembly. 3. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising the steps of connecting the hand piece's output end to a flexible hose. 4. The method of claim 3, further comprising the step of adding a second housing, which is spaced apart form the housing. 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising the steps of connecting the hand piece's output end to a flexible hose and connecting the flexible hose to a second housing assembly, the second housing assembly comprising a water reservoir. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the hand piece comprises a groove and the screen is disposed within the groove. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the hand piece comprises an axial bore and a reduced diameter section within the axial bore. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the housing is made from a plurality of walls, which include at least two side walls each comprising an upper edge having an inclined surface relative to a base wall. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the plurality walls are made from a wood material. 10. A vaporizer apparatus for extracting active ingredients, the vaporizer apparatus comprising: an electrically operable heating element assembly comprising an elongated heating element defining a shaft; a shield surrounding, at least in part, the elongated heating element; a power regulator for regulating electrical power to the heating element assembly; a housing comprising a plurality of housing walls, including a base wall configured to be placed generally parallel to a support surface, a top wall opposite the base wall, and a front wall, an interior space, an access opening for accessing the elongated heating element positioned in the interior space, and a ventilation opening, which is smaller in dimension than the heating element access opening; an elongated control member passing through a controller opening for manipulating the power regulator; a mounting assembly positioned in the interior space of the housing for securing the elongated heating element to the housing, said mounting assembly mounting the elongated heating element at an acute angle to the base wall; and wherein the access opening is formed, in part, by an end edge of the top wall and an end edge of the front wall, and wherein the access opening defines a plane that is non-parallel to a plane defined by the base wall. 11. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 10, further comprising a second housing having a water reservoir. 12. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 11, further comprising a down stem, wherein the down stem is disposed within an inlet port of the second housing. 13. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 10, further comprising a knob coupled on an end of the elongated control member. 14. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 10, wherein the mounting assembly is in contact with the top wall. 15. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 10, further comprising a lamp, the lamp is electrically coupled to the power regulator and wherein the power regulator regulates both the lamp and the heating element assembly. 16. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 10, wherein an end of the heating element assembly is positioned proximate the access opening. 17. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 16, wherein the mounting assembly holds the heating element assembly so that the end is proximate the access opening. 18. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 10, further comprising two side walls each comprising an upper edge that is inclined relative to the base wall. 19. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 10, further comprising a hand piece configured to indirectly abut against the elongated heating element. 20. A vaporizer apparatus for extracting essences from a carrier, the apparatus comprising: a housing comprising a plurality of walls defining an interior space including a bottom wall, which is generally parallel to and adjacent a support surface, a top wall, which is spaced apart from the bottom wall, and a front wall, an access opening for accessing the interior space, a ventilation opening, and a controller opening; an electrically operable heating element assembly comprising an elongated heating element defining a shaft; a mounting assembly having a planar mounting surface having the elongated heating element mounted thereon with the shaft positioned at an acute angle to the bottom wall, the mounting assembly being mounted so that the mounting surface is at an angle relative to the base wall; a power regulator for regulating electrical power consumed by the heating element assembly, the power regulator comprising a control circuit disposed in the interior space of the housing; a lamp, said lamp being electrically coupled to the power regulator and wherein the power regulator regulates the lamp; and a second housing having a water reservoir, the second housing comprising an inlet port. 21. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 20, further comprising a down stem, wherein the down stem is disposed within the inlet port of the second housing. 22. The vaporizer apparatus of claim 21, wherein the down stem comprises a stem section, a first mating section, and a second mating section; and wherein the first mating section is configured to form a seal with at least a portion of the inlet port. 23.
