The invention is claimed as follows: 1. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, (ii) a conical shaped side w
The invention is claimed as follows: 1. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, (ii) a conical shaped side wall integrally formed at one end with the bottom wall and extending from the bottom wall to a top end along a first line, (iii) said side wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface of said bottom wall and said inner surface of the side wall defining a cavity, (iv) said top end defining an opening for the cavity, (v) said top end having a greater diameter than the bottom end, (vi) an outwardly extending lip integrally formed with the top end of the side wall, and (vii) a downwardly extending lip integrally formed with the side wall and extending below the bottom wall; (b) positioning the cup in an upside down position such that the top end of the cup resides below the bottom end of the cup; (c) positioning a reinforcing member along the first line, said reinforcing member having: (i) a body including: (A) a concavely shaped top edge, (B) a convexly shaped bottom edge, (C) a center point along a central vertical axis, said center point defined by a trough of the concavely shaped top edge and an apex of the convexly shaped bottom edge, (D) an inner surface, and (E) an outer surface, and (ii) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer which covers substantially the entire inner surface of the body; (d) moving the cup and the reinforcing member toward an attachment position; (e) at the attachment position, attaching the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup along or substantially along said central vertical axis of the reinforcing member, wherein a top edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the bottom end of the cup, a bottom edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the top end of the cup and the inner surface of the body of the reinforcing member engages the side wall of the cup at an angle which corresponds with an angle of the side wall of the cup; (f) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a first direction to attach a trailing portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said trailing portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a trailing edge of the reinforcing member; and (g) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a second opposite direction to attach a leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said leading portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a leading edge of the reinforcing member. 2. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 1, wherein the first direction is counter clockwise and said second direction is clockwise. 3. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 1, wherein the reinforcing member includes at least one adhesive release edge. 4. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 1, which includes providing the reinforcing member from a supply roll. 5. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 1, which includes providing the cup from a stack of cups. 6. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, (ii) a conical shaped side wall integrally formed at one end with the bottom wall and extending from the bottom wall to a top end, (iii) said side wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface of said bottom wall and said inner surface of said side wall defining a cavity, (iv) said top end defining an opening for the cavity, (v) said top end having a greater diameter than the bottom end, (vi) an outwardly extending lip integrally formed with the top end of the side wall, and (vii) a downwardly extending lip integrally formed with the side wall and extending below the bottom wall; (b) positioning the cup in an upside down position such that the top end of the cup resides below the bottom end of the cup; (c) positioning a reinforcing member at an acute angle relative to a vertical line, said acute angle corresponding with an angle of the side wall of the cup, said reinforcing member having: (i) a body including: (A) a concavely shaped top edge, (B) a convexly shaped bottom edge, (C) a center point along a central vertical axis, said center point defined by a trough of the concavely shaped top edge and an apex of the convexly shaped bottom edge, (D) an inner surface, (E) an outer surface, (F) a leading edge, and (G) a substantially vertically extending sensing edge, said leading edge and sensing edge extending between the concavely shaped edge and convexly shaped edge of one end of the material layer, and (ii) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer which covers substantially the entire inner surface of the body; (d) moving the cup and the reinforcing member to an attachment position at substantially the same time at least in part by sensing the sensing edge of the reinforcing member; (e) at the attachment position, attaching the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup along or substantially along said central vertical axis, wherein the top edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the bottom end of the cup, the bottom edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the top end of the cup and the inner surface of the body of the reinforcing member engages the side wall of the cup at the angle which corresponds with the angle of the side wall of the cup; (f) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a first direction to attach a trailing portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said trailing portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a trailing edge of the reinforcing member; and (g) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a second opposite direction to attach a leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said leading portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a leading edge of the reinforcing member. 7. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 6, wherein the first direction is counter clockwise and said second direction is clockwise. 8. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 6, which includes sensing the sensing edge of the reinforcing member immediately prior to applying said reinforcing member to the cup. 9. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 6, wherein the reinforcing member includes at least one adhesive release edge. 10. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 6, which includes providing the reinforcing member from a supply roll. 11. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 6, which includes providing the cup from a stack of cups. 12. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 6, which includes optically sensing the sensing edge of the reinforcing member. 13. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, (ii) a conical shaped side wall integrally formed at one end with the bottom wall and extending from the bottom wall to a top end, (iii) said side wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface of said bottom wall and said inner surface of said side wall defining a cavity, (iv) said top end defining an opening for the cavity, (v) said top end having a greater diameter than the bottom end, (vi) an outwardly extending lip integrally formed with the top end of the side wall, and (vii) a downwardly extending lip integrally formed with the side wall and extending below the bottom wall; (b) de-nesting the cup from a plurality of nested cups; (c) dispensing the de-nested cup onto a cup conveyor in an upside down position where the top end of the cup resides below the bottom end of the cup, said dispensing includes providing a negative pressure at and above the cup conveyor such that the cup does not tip over; (d) positioning a reinforcing member at an acute angle relative to a vertical line, said acute angle corresponding with an angle of the side wall of the cup, said reinforcing member having: (i) a body including: (A) a concavely shaped top edge, (B) a convexly shaped bottom edge, (C) a center point along a central vertical axis, said center point defined by a trough of the concavely shaped top edge and an apex of the convexly shaped bottom edge, (D) an inner surface, and (E) an outer surface, and (ii) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer which covers substantially the entire inner surface of the body; (e) moving the cup and the reinforcing member toward an attachment position; (f) at the attachment position, attaching the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup along or substantially along said central vertical axis, wherein the top edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the bottom end of the cup, the bottom edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the top end of the cup and the inner surface of the body of the reinforcing member engages the side wall of the cup at the angle which corresponds with the angle of the side wall of the cup; (g) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a first direction to attach a trailing portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said trailing portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a trailing edge of the reinforcing member; and (h) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a second opposite direction to attach a leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said leading portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a leading edge of the reinforcing member. 14. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 13, wherein the first direction is counter clockwise and said second direction is clockwise. 15. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 13, wherein providing the negative pressure at and above the cup conveyor includes causing air to flow from above the cup conveyor through the cup conveyor and to a vacuum source. 16. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 13, wherein the reinforcing member includes at least one adhesive release edge. 17. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 13, wherein the reinforcing member includes at least one sensing edge. 18. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 13, which includes providing the reinforcing member from a supply roll. 19. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 13, which includes providing the cup from a stack of cups. 20. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, (ii) a conical shaped side wall integrally formed at one end with the bottom wall and extending from the bottom wall to a top end, said side wall having a top edge and a bottom edge, said side wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface of said bottom wall and said inner surface of said side wall defining a cavity, said inner surface of the side wall including a beveled section extending from the bottom edge to the bottom wall, (iii) said top end defining an opening for the cavity, (iv) said top end having a greater diameter than the bottom end, (v) an outwardly extending lip integrally formed with the top end of the side wall, and (vi) a downwardly extending lip integrally formed with the side wall and extending below the bottom wall; (b) positioning the cup in an upside down position such that the top end of the cup resides below the bottom end of the cup; (c) maintaining the cup in the upside down position by simultaneously engaging: (i) the top edge of the side wall, (ii) the inner surface of the side wall adjacent to the top end, (iii) the outer surface of the side wall adjacent the bottom end, (iv) the bottom edge of the side wall, (v) the beveled section of the side wall adjacent to the bottom end, and (vi) the outer surface of the bottom wall, (d) positioning a reinforcing member at an acute angle relative to a vertical line, said acute angle corresponding with an angle of the side wall of the cup, said reinforcing member having: (i) a body including: (A) a concavely shaped top edge, (B) a convexly shaped bottom edge, (C) a center point along a central vertical axis, said center point defined by a trough of the concavely shaped top edge and an apex of the convexly shaped bottom edge, (D) an inner surface, and (E) an outer surface, and (ii) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer which covers substantially the entire inner surface of the body; (e) moving the cup maintained in the upside down position and the reinforcing member toward an attachment position; (f) at the attachment position, attaching the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup along or substantially along said central vertical axis, wherein the top edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the bottom end of the cup, the bottom edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the top end of the cup and the inner surface of the body of the reinforcing member engages the side wall of the cup at the angle which corresponds with the angle of the side wall of the cup; (g) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a first direction to attach a trailing portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said trailing portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a trailing edge of the reinforcing member; and (h) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a second opposite direction to attach a leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said leading portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a leading edge of the reinforcing member. 21. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 20, wherein the first direction is counter clockwise and said second direction is clockwise. 22. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 20, which includes engaging the outer surface of the side wall adjacent the bottom end, the bottom edge of the side wall, the beveled section of the side wall adjacent to the bottom end, and the outer surface of the bottom wall under pressure. 23. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 20, wherein the reinforcing member includes at least one adhesive release edge. 24. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 20, which includes providing the reinforcing member from a supply roll. 25. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 20, which includes providing the cup from a stack of cups. 26. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, (ii) a conical shaped side wall integrally formed at one end with the bottom wall and extending from the bottom wall to a top end, (iii) said side wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface of said bottom wall and said inner surface of said side wall defining a cavity, (iv) said top end defining an opening for the cavity, (v) said top end having a greater diameter than the bottom end, (vi) an outwardly extending lip integrally formed with the top end of the side wall, and (vii) a downwardly extending lip integrally formed with the side wall and extending below the bottom wall; (b) positioning the cup in an upside down position such that the top end of the cup resides below the bottom end of the cup; (c) positioning a reinforcing member at an acute angle relative to a vertical line, said acute angle corresponding with an angle of the side wall of the cup, said reinforcing member having: (i) a body including: (A) a concavely shaped top edge, (B) a convexly shaped bottom edge, (C) a center point along a central vertical axis, said center point defined by a trough of the concavely shaped top edge and an apex of the convexly shaped bottom edge, (D) an inner surface, and (E) an outer surface, and (ii) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer which covers substantially the entire inner surface of the body; (d) moving the cup and the reinforcing member toward an attachment position; (e) at the attachment position, attaching the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup along or substantially along said central vertical axis, wherein the top edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the bottom end of the cup, the bottom edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the top end of the cup and the inner surface of the body of the reinforcing member engages the side wall of the cup at the angle which corresponds with the angle of the side wall of the plastic foam cup; (f) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a counter-clockwise direction to attach a trailing portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said trailing portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a trailing edge of the reinforcing member; and (g) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a clockwise direction to attach a leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said leading portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a leading edge of the reinforcing member. 27. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 26, wherein the reinforcing member includes at least one adhesive release edge. 28. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 26, which includes providing the reinforcing member from a supply roll. 29. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 26, which includes providing the cup from a stack of cups. 30. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, (ii) a conical shaped side wall integrally formed at one end with the bottom wall and extending from the bottom wall to a top end, (iii) said side wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, said inner surface of said bottom wall and said inner surface of said side wall defining a cavity, (iv) said top end defining an opening for the cavity, (v) said top end having a greater diameter than the bottom end, (vi) an outwardly extending lip integrally formed with the top end of the side wall, and (vii) a downwardly extending lip integrally formed with the side wall and extending below the bottom wall; (b) positioning the cup in an upside down position such that the top end of the cup resides below the bottom end of the cup; (c) positioning a reinforcing member at an acute angle relative to a vertical line, said acute angle corresponding with an angle of the side wall of the cup, said reinforcing member having: (i) a body including: (A) a concavely shaped top edge, (B) a convexly shaped bottom edge, (C) a center point along a central vertical axis, said center point defined by a trough of the concavely shaped top edge and an apex of the convexly shaped bottom edge, (D) an inner surface, and (E) an outer surface, and (ii) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer which covers substantially the entire inner surface of the body; (d) moving the cup and the reinforcing member toward an attachment position; (e) at the attachment position, attaching the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup along or substantially along said central vertical axis, wherein the top edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the bottom end of the cup, the bottom edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the top end of the cup and the inner surface of the body of the reinforcing member engages the side wall of the cup at the angle which corresponds with the angle of the side wall of the plastic foam cup; (f) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a first direction to attach a portion but not all of a leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said leading portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a leading edge of the reinforcing member; (g) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a second opposite direction to attach a trailing portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said trailing portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from the central vertical axis to a trailing edge of the reinforcing member; and (h) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in the first direction to attach a further portion of remaining leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup. 31. The method of reinforcing a plastic foam cup of claim 30, wherein the first direction is counter clockwise and said second direction is clockwise. 32. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 30, wherein the reinforcing member includes at least one adhesive release edge. 33. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 30, which includes providing the reinforcing member from a supply roll. 34. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 30, which includes providing the cup from a stack of cups. 35. A method of manufacturing a reinforced plastic foam cup, said method comprising: (a) providing a plastic foam cup having: (i) a bottom wall at a bottom end of the cup, said bottom wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, and (ii) a conical shaped side wall integrally formed at one end with the bottom wail and extending from the bottom wall to a top end, (b) positioning the cup in an upside down position such that a top end of the cup resides below a bottom end of the cup; (c) positioning a reinforcing member at an acute angle relative to a vertical line, said acute angle corresponding with an angle of the side wall of the cup, said reinforcing member having: (i) a body including: (A) an inner surface, and (B) an outer surface, and (iii) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer which covers substantially the entire inner surface of the body; (d) moving the cup and the reinforcing member toward an attachment position; (e) at the attachment position, attaching the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein a concavely shaped top edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the bottom end of the cup, a convexly shaped bottom edge of the body of the reinforcing member is substantially aligned with the top end of the cup and the inner surface of the body of the reinforcing member engages the side wall at the angle which corresponds with the angle of the side wall of the cup; (f) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a first direction to attach a trailing portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said trailing portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from a trailing edge of the reinforcing member to a central point of the reinforcing member which is defined by a trough of the concavely shaped top edge and an apex of the convexly shaped bottom edge; and (g) rotating the cup and the attached reinforcing member in a second opposite direction to attach a leading portion of the reinforcing member to the side wall of the cup, wherein said leading portion includes an area of the reinforcing member from a leading edge of the reinforcing member to the central point of the reinforcing member. 36. The method of manufacturing a plastic foam cup of claim 35, wherein the first direction is counter clockwise and said second direction is clockwise.
