A method of donning a support includes: positioning a garment proximate an area of a body; positioning a framework in abutment with the area of the body, the framework defining a plurality of permanent openings therein regardless of whether the support is donned; applying tension at points of the framework such that the framework is expanded and the framework is tensioned in its abutment with the area of the body, said step of applying tension being performed by pulling on one or more fastening components that are attached at one or more points to said framework; and affixing each of the fastening components to the garment while applying tension to the framework to secure the expanded framework in its forced abutment with the area of the body.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of donning a support, comprising the steps of: (a) positioning a garment including a permanent tubular portion designed to fit and completely surround a portion of a body including an area of the body; (b) positioning a flexible, elastically stretchable framework in abutment with the area of the body, the framework comprising an integrally molded network of interconnected, elastomeric segments; (c) applying tension at points of the framework such that the framework is expanded and the framework is tensioned in its abutment with the area of the body, said step of applying tension being performed by pulling on fastening components that are attached to said framework; and (d) independently affixing each of the fastening components to the garment while applying tension to the framework to secure the expanded framework in its forced abutment with the area of the body (e) wherein said framework includes: (i) left and right sides comprising first and second exterior lateral segments and top and bottom sides comprising first and second exterior transverse segments, which left, right, bottom and top sides collectively define a perimeter of the framework, (ii) first, second, third, and fourth interior, mutually exclusive subsets of transverse segments, each of which extends between and interconnects the left and right sides of the perimeter of the framework, (iii) first and second interior, mutually exclusive subsets of lateral segments, each of which extends between and interconnects the top side of the perimeter of the framework and the second interior subset of transverse segments, and each of which intersects and interconnects the first interior subset of transverse segments, and (iv) third and fourth interior, mutually exclusive subsets of lateral segments, each of which extends between and interconnects the bottom side of the perimeter of the framework and the second interior subset of transverse segments, and each of which intersects and interconnects the third and fourth interior subsets of transverse segments, (v) wherein each subset of segments comprises one or more segments. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the framework includes openings defined therethrough, and the ratio of the total area of said openings to the total surface area of said surface of said framework is 50% or greater. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said framework is permanently attached to said garment; and wherein the fastening components are each removably affixed to the garment such that the fastening components may be separated from the garment and, thereafter, reaffixed. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein said framework is removably attached to said garment such that the framework may be separated from the garment and, thereafter, reattached; and wherein the fastening components are each removably affixed to the garment such that the fastening components may be separated from the garment and, thereafter, reaffixed. 5. The method of claim 4, wherein the fastening components each are removably attached to the framework. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of applying tension comprises applying tension at multiple points of attachment proximate each of the left and right sides of the framework. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of positioning the framework in abutment with an area of a body does not include overlapping the framework on itself. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the framework comprises an exposed framework of the support. 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the framework includes no internal cavity. 10. The method of claim 1, wherein the framework comprises a semirigid framework. 11. The method of claim 1, wherein the fastening components are attached at the left and right sides of said framework. 12. The method of claim 11, wherein a first component is attached to said left side of said framework and a second component is attached to said right side of said framework. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein each of said left and right sides comprises an edge area of said framework. 14. The method of claim 12, wherein said first and second components each is adjustably attached to said framework. 15. The method of claim 12, wherein said first and second components each is removably attached to said framework. 16. The method of claim 12, wherein said first and second components each is attached to said framework through a D-ring connector. 17. The method of claim 12, wherein said first and second components are removably affixed to said garment. 18. The method of claim 12, wherein said fastening mechanism further comprises a third component connected to said left side of said framework and a fourth component connected to said right side of said framework, each of said third and fourth components being independently affixed to the garment to further secure the expanded framework in its forced abutment with the area of the body. 19. The method of claim 1, wherein portions of the framework are flexible, expandable and recoverable, these portions defining the openings of the framework. 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the framework includes openings, and portions of the framework defining the openings of the framework are interconnected to define a web. 21. The method of claim 20, wherein the web extends between the opposite sides of the framework, the web consisting of the flexible, expandable and recoverable portions. 22. The method of claim 20, wherein an amount of tension applied to a first portion of the framework extending from a point proximate a first of the left and right sides of the framework differs from an amount of tension applied to a second portion of the framework extending from another point proximate the same side of the framework. 23. The method of claim 20, wherein an amount of tension applied to a portion of the framework extending from a point proximate a first of the left and right sides of the framework differs from an amount of tension applied to other portions of the framework extending from another point proximate the same side of the framework. 24. The method of claim 20, wherein certain of the portions of the framework defining a respective one of the openings each has substantially the same elastic stretchability in the area of the respective opening. 25. The method of claim 20, wherein certain of the portions of the framework defining a respective one of the openings are substantially similar in cross-section. 26. The method of claim 20, wherein certain of the portions of the framework defining a respective one of the openings are substantially similar in thickness. 27. The method of claim 1, wherein, independent of said fastening of the fastening components to the garment, the framework is attached to the garment proximate the left and right sides of the framework. 28. The method of claim 27, wherein the framework is attached to the garment only proximate the left and right sides of the framework. 29. The method of claim 28, wherein the framework is permanently attached directly to the garment proximate the left and right sides of the framework. 30. The method of claim 1, wherein said framework extends over but does not extend beyond said garment. 31. The method of claim 1, wherein said integrally molded network of interconnected, elastomeric segments includes a plurality of generally linear segments of an elastomeric material. 32. The method of claim 1, wherein the framework includes permanent openings defined therein, and at least some of said permanent openings defined in said framework have different configurations and dimensions, including oval and polygonal shapes. 33. The method of claim 1, wherein the framework includes permanent openings defined therein, and at least some of said permanent openings defined in said framework are symmetrically arranged and oriented about an axis of symmetry of said framework. 34. The method of claim 1, wherein said framework is configured to be stretched in order to conform to the area of the body to be supported.
