A storage device has a memory module and a cover pivotally coupled to a housing of the memory module. In one such storage device, the memory module and cover can pivot with respect to each other to configure the storage device in a first configuration or in each of one or more second configurations. In the first configuration, the cover substantially encloses a connector of the memory module that extends from the housing. In one or more second configurations, the connector is entirely exposed. For one embodiment, opposing light-transmission elements may pass through the cover and extend into an interior of the housing.

What is claimed is: 1. A storage device, comprising: a memory module; a cover pivotally coupled to the memory module so that the memory module and cover can pivot with respect to each other to configure the storage device in one of at least two configurations; and opposing light-transmission elements that respectively extend from opposing exterior surfaces of the cover and into an interior of a housing of the memory module; wherein in one of the configurations of the storage device, the cover substantially encloses a connector of the memory module that extends from the housing of the memory module; and wherein in an other one of the configurations of the storage device, the connector is entirely exposed. 2. The storage device of claim 1, wherein the cover and memory module can be pivoted by 360 degrees with respect to each other. 3. The storage device of claim 1, wherein the cover comprises at least one notch that exposes a portion of the housing in at least one of the configurations. 4. The storage device of claim 1, wherein the storage device and the cover are configured to retain the cover in a position where the cover substantially encloses the connector or other positions where the connector is entirely exposed. 5. The storage device of claim 4, wherein the cover is retained in at least one of the positions by biasing a portion of a spring within a respective one of one or more inter-tooth regions of a toothed interior surface of the cover that defines a hole that passes through the cover. 6. The storage device of claim 1, wherein the light-transmission elements optically couple a light source of the memory module to exterior surroundings of the storage device. 7. The storage device of claim 6, wherein an exterior surface of one of the light-transmission elements is not visible to a surface of a circuit board of the memory module on which the light source is mounted. 8. The storage device of claim 1, wherein each of the light-transmission elements comprises a head portion, wherein the head portions of the light-transmission elements respectively extend over portions of the opposing exterior surfaces of the cover. 9. The storage device of claim 1, wherein the cover comprises a pair of tines extending from an end of the cover. 10. The storage device of claim 9, wherein the pair of tines and the end define an interior of the cover having a substantially U-shaped cross-section, wherein the interior substantially encloses the at least the portion of the housing and the connector when the storage device is in the first configuration. 11. The storage device of claim 9, wherein each of the tines respectively overlies a portion of the connector and at least a portion of an exterior surface of the housing when the storage device is in at least one of the configurations. 12. The storage device of claim 1, wherein a hole passes though a portion of the cover for receiving a lanyard therethrough. 13. A storage device, comprising: a memory module, the memory module comprising: a housing; and a connector extending from the housing; and a cover comprising: an end; first and second tines extending from the end, the memory module pivotally coupled to the first and second tines so that the memory module and cover can pivot with respect to each other to configure the storage device in one of at least two configurations; opposing light-transmission elements that respectively pass through an exterior surface of the first tine and an exterior surface of the second tine and extend into an interior of the housing; wherein in one of the configurations of the storage device, the first and second tines respectively overlie the connector; and wherein in an other one of the configurations of the storage device, the connector is entirely exposed. 14. The storage device of claim 13, wherein a portion of one of the light-transmission elements directly overlies a light source that is mounted on a surface of a circuit board of the memory module. 15. The storage device of claim 14, wherein an other one of the light-transmission elements comprises a beveled surface located adjacent of the light source, and an exterior surface that is not visible to the surface of the circuit board on which the light source is mounted, the inclined surface optically coupling the light source to the other light-transmission element. 16. The storage device of claim 15, wherein the beveled surface forms about a 45-degree angle with respect to the surface of circuit board to which the light source is mounted. 17. The storage device of claim 13, wherein the light-transmission elements are connected to portions of the housing that respectively pivotally couple the tines to the housing. 18. The storage device of claim 13, wherein the cover can be retained at least one of a position where the first and second tines respectively overlie the connector and a position where the connector is entirely exposed by biasing a portion of a spring within a respective one of a plurality of inter-tooth regions of a toothed interior surface of the first tine that defines a hole that passes through the first tine. 19. The storage device of claim 18, wherein the plurality of inter-tooth regions of the toothed interior surface is a plurality of first inter-tooth regions of the toothed interior surface and wherein the portion of the spring is located within a second inter-tooth region of the toothed interior surface when the storage device is in at least one of the configurations. 20. The storage device of claim 19, wherein the spring is in a neutral position when the portion of the spring is located in the second inter-tooth region. 21. The storage device of claim 13, wherein a pair of opposing openings to an interior of the cover are located between the first and second tines so that the housing can pivot into or out of the interior of the cover through either of the opposing openings. 22. A storage device, comprising: a memory module; a cover pivotally coupled to the memory module so that the memory module and cover can pivot with respect to each other to configure the storage device in one of at least two configurations; and opposing light-pipes that respectively overlie opposing exterior surfaces of the cover and extend into a housing of the memory module; wherein in one of the configurations of the storage device, the cover is in a first position and substantially encloses a connector of the memory module that extends from the housing; wherein in an other one of the configurations of the storage device, the cover is in a second position and the connector is entirely exposed; and wherein the storage device and the cover are configured to retain the cover in at least one of the first and second positions. 23. The storage device of claim 22, wherein a portion of one of the light-pipes directly overlies a light source that is mounted on a surface of a circuit board of the memory module. 24. The storage device of claim 23, wherein an other one of the light-transmission elements comprises a beveled surface located adjacent of the light source, and an exterior surface that is not visible to the surface of the circuit board on which the light source is mounted, the inclined surface optically coupling the light source to the other light-transmission element. 25.
