What is claimed is: 1. A method of increasing the frequency with which an Internet user visits a predetermined Internet site using an Internet browser, the Internet browser having a bounded user interface area containing at least one Internet browser toolbar having at least one browser toolbar button providing predetermined functionality, the Internet browser further having a display area for displaying Web pages, the area for displaying Web pages being a separate area from the user interface area of the browser, said method comprising the steps of: making available at a predetermined website user toolbar software associated with the predetermined Internet web site; and providing the user toolbar software to the Internet user via download, the user toolbar software, when installed on a user computer, causing a user toolbar comprising user toolbar buttons to be added to and remain within the bounds of the user interface area of the Internet browser as part of the user interface area of the Internet browser regardless of any subsequent Internet site to which the Internet browser is caused to navigate after being added. 2. The method as recited by claim 1, wherein the software causes the user toolbar to communicate to the predetermined Internet site when the Internet user activates the browser, regardless of whether the browser is preprogrammed to access a different Internet web site upon activation. 3. The method as recited by claim 2, further comprising the software causing the user toolbar to communicate to the predetermined Internet site at either a periodic interval or in response to instructions in the software. 4. The method as recited by claim 3, wherein the periodic interval is determined by the predetermined Internet site. 5. The method as recited by claim 1, wherein the software, upon activation by the user of a second browser having a second browser user interface area containing at least one second Internet browser toolbar having at least one second browser toolbar button providing predetermined functionality and further having a second browser display area for displaying Web pages being a separate area from the second browser user interface area of the browser, causes a second user toolbar to be added to and remain within the second browser user interface area as part of the second browser user interface and causes the second user toolbar to communicate to the predetermined Internet site regardless of whether the second browser is preprogrammed to access a different Internet web site upon activation. 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a search term entry box through which the user can enter a search term and initiate a search at the predetermined Internet site regardless of an Internet site to which the user has navigated at the time the search is initiated. 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a button via which a user can establish a connection to an email service provided by the predetermined Internet site. 8. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a button via which a user can access a list of said user's favorite websites maintained by the predetermined Internet site. 9. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a button via which a user can access a list of user addresses maintained by the predetermined Internet site. 10. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a search term entry box through which the user can enter a search term and initiate a search at an Internet site regardless of an Internet site to which the user has navigated at the time the search is initiated. 11. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises an advertisement directed to said user based upon information about said user. 12. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises an advertisement. 13. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a button via which a user can establish a connection to an email service. 14. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a button via which a user can access a list of said user's favorite websites. 15. The method of claim 1 wherein the user toolbar comprises a button via which a user can access a list of user addresses. 16. A method of increasing the frequency with which an Internet user visits a predetermined Internet site using an Internet browser, the Internet browser having a bounded user interface area containing at least one Internet browser toolbar having at least one browser toolbar button providing predetermined functionality, the Internet browser further having a display area for displaying Web pages, the area for displaying Web pages being a separate area from the user interface area of the browser, said method comprising the steps of: making available at a predetermined website user interface element software associated with the predetermined Internet web site; and providing the user interface element software to the Internet user via download, the software, when installed on a user computer, causing a user interface element specific to the user to be added to and remain within the bounded user interface area of the Internet browser as part of the user interface area of the Internet browser regardless of any subsequent Internet site to which the Internet browser is caused to navigate after being added. 17. The method as recited by claim 16, wherein the software causes the user interface element to communicate to the predetermined Internet site when the Internet user activates the browser, regardless of whether the browser is preprogrammed to access a different Internet web site upon activation. 18. The method as recited by claim 17, wherein the software causes the user interface element to communicate to the predetermined Internet site at either a periodic interval or in response to instructions in the software. 19. The method as recited by claim 18, wherein the periodic interval is determined by the predetermined Internet site. 20. The method as recited by claim 16, wherein the software, upon activation by the user of a second browser having a second browser user interface area containing at least one second Internet browser toolbar having at least one second browser toolbar button providing predetermined functionality and further having a second browser display area for displaying Web pages being a separate area from the second browser user interface area of the browser, causes a second user interface element to be added to and remain within the second browser user interface area as part of the second browser user interface and causes the second user interface element to communicate to the predetermined Internet site regardless of whether the second browser is preprogrammed to access a different Internet web site upon activation. 21. The method of claim 16 wherein the user interface element comprises a search term entry box through which the user can enter a search term and initiate a search at the predetermined Internet site regardless of an Internet site to which the user has navigated at the time the search is initiated. 22. The method of claim 16 wherein the user interface element comprises a button via which a user can establish a connection to an email service provided by the predetermined Internet site. 23. The method of claim 16 wherein the user interface element comprises a button via which a user can access a list of said user's favorite websites maintained by the predetermined Internet site. 24. The method of claim 16 wherein the user interface element comprises a button via which a user can access a list of user addresses maintained by the predetermined Internet site. 25. The method of claim 16 wherein the user interface element comprises a search term entry box through which the user can enter a search term and initiate a search at an Internet site regardless of an Internet site to which the user has navigated at the time the search is initiated. 26. The method of claim 16 wherein the user interface element comprises an advertisement directed to said user based upon information about said user. 27. The method of claim 16 wherein the user interface element comprises an advertisement. 28.
