A method of controlling at least one remote receiver station from a transmitter station, wherein said transmitter station includes a plurality of transmitters, a selective transfer device operatively connected to at least one of said plurality of transmitters, a mass medium programming source, and a computer operatively connected to at least one of said mass medium programming source and said selective transfer device, said method comprising the steps of: receiving and storing an information transmission including a first selection control signal and television programming; splitting said information transmission into a first path and a second path; selecting, in accordance with said first selection control signal, a time of transmission and at least one of said plurality of transmitters to transmit a second selection control signal and said television programming, wherein said second selection control signal is operative at said at least one remote receiver station; controlling said at least one of said programming source and said selective transfer device to communicate said second selection control signal and said television programming to said selected at least one of said plurality of transmitters at said selected time; and transmitting said second selection control signal and said television programming to said at least one remote receiver station; and receiving and storing said second selection control signal and said television programming at said at least one remote receiver station. 2. A method of processing signals in a network having a plurality of receiver stations, said method comprising the steps of: inputting a signal, said signal including, with an embedded identification datum, at least one of specific video programming, specific audio programming, and specific data programming; inputting said signal to a switch and a processor; determining what specific programming is being inputted to said switch based on said embedded identification datum; receiving timing instructions from a source other than said plurality of receiver stations; controlling said switch to communicate specific programming according to said timing instructions; delaying the communication of said signal based on said step of controlling; transmitting said signal and a control signal to one of said plurality of receiver stations after said step of delaying; and outputting, at said at one of said plurality of receiver stations, said one of specific video programming, specific audio programming, and specific data programming; wherein said control signal is operative at said one of said plurality of receiver stations. 3. A method of controlling a transmitter station to transmit television programming to a receiver station, said method comprising the steps of: inputting a scheduling signal from a source other than a receiver station; receiving an information transmission at a transmitter station, said information transmission comprising television programming and a first signal embedded in said television programming; splitting said information transmission into a first path and a second path, where said information transmission of the first path is communicated to a recording device, and where said information transmission of the second path is communicated to a signal processor; stripping out the first embedded signal from the received television programming at said signal processor; generating a second signal at the transmitter station at said signal processor; embedding the second signal in the television programming at said signal processor; and transmitting the television programming and the second signal to said receiver station according to said scheduling signal; wherein said second signal is a control signal and operative at said receiver station. 4. The method of claim 3 further comprising the step of: logging said step of transmitting the television programming to the receiver station. 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said step of logging comprises the steps of: detecting the second embedded signal; and recording said step of transmitting said television programming based on said step of detecting. 6. A method of communicating television program material from a transmitter station to one or more receiver stations, said transmitter station including a plurality of transmitters, at least one selective transfer device, at least one signal generator, a computer, a decoder or detector, and with each of said plurality of transmitters transmitting programming, said at least one selective transfer device operatively connected to at least one of said plurality of transmitters for communicating programming, said at least one signal generator connected to at least one of said plurality of transmitters, said computer operatively connected to one or more of said at least one signal generator and said at least one selective transfer device for controlling said one or more of said at least one signal generator and said at least one selective transfer device, said decoder or detector operatively connected to said computer for decoding or detecting one of an identifier and an instruction, and said selective transfer device includes a storage device, said method comprising the steps of: receiving and storing a selection control signal from a source other than a receiver station, wherein said selection control signal includes a transmission schedule; selecting at least one of said plurality of transmitters and said at least one signal generator in accordance with said received and stored selection control signal; receiving from a remote station at least one unit of programming to be transmitted; communicating a first signal comprising said at least one unit of programming to said selected one of said plurality of transmitters and said at least one signal generator; controlling said at least one signal generator to add a second signal to said communicated first signal, wherein said second signal is operative at said one or more receiver stations; transmitting, according to said transmission schedule, said first signal and said second signal to said one or more receiver stations; receiving said at least one unit of programming at a receiver in the transmitter station; communicating said at least one unit of programming from said receiver to said storage device; and storing said at least one unit of programming for a period of time prior to transmitting said at least one unit of programming to said one or more television receiver stations. 7. The method of claim 6, further comprising the steps of: selecting a second of said at least one unit of programming in accordance with said schedule; and controlling said transmitter station to communicate said second of said at least one unit of programming and said second signal. 8. The method of claim 6, further comprising the steps of: decoding or detecting an instruction in the non-visible portion of a television signal; and responding to said instruction. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein said transmitter station receives a plurality of channels of programming from one or more remote sources, said method further comprising the steps of: determining a specific television channel in response to said instruction; and controlling one of a logging device and said at least one selective transfer device based on said step of determining. 10. The method of claim 8, wherein said instruction comprises a digital signal, said method further comprising the step of identifying a source of said instruction or some television programming included in said first signal based on said digital signal.
