Systems and methods for producing hydrogen gas with a fuel processing system that includes a hydrogen-producing region that produces hydrogen gas from a feed stream and a heating assembly that consumes a fuel stream to produce a heated exhaust stream for heating the hydrogen-producing region. In some embodiments, the heating assembly heats the hydrogen-producing region to at least a minimum hydrogen-producing temperature. In some embodiments, the feed stream and the fuel stream both contain a carbon-containing feedstock and at least 25 wt % water. In some embodiments, at least one of the feed and fuel streams contain at least one additional component. In some embodiments, the feed and fuel streams have the same composition. In some embodiments, the feed and fuel streams are drawn or obtained from a common source or supply, and in some embodiments as a liquid stream that is selectively apportioned to form the feed and fuel streams.

The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the feed stream and the fuel stream comprise at least one additional component. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the feed stream and the fuel stream have the same composition. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the volume percentage of water present is 31-50%. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the method further comprises selectively apportioning a stream containing methanol and the at least 25 vol % water into the fuel stream and the feed stream, wherein the selectively apportioning includes selectively apportioning based at least in part on a mode of operation of the hydrogen-producing reforming region. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the method further comprises producing from the mixed gas stream a hydrogen-rich stream and a byproduct stream, wherein the hydrogen-rich stream contains at least one of a higher concentration of hydrogen gas and a lower concentration of the other gases than the mixed gas stream, wherein the byproduct stream contains at least one of a lower concentration of hydrogen gas and a higher concentration of the other gases than the mixed gas stream, and further wherein the method includes selectively apportioning a stream containing methanol and the at least 25 vol % water into the fuel stream and the feed stream, wherein the selectively apportioning includes selectively apportioning based at least in part on a flow rate of the byproduct stream. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the method further comprises combusting at least a portion of the byproduct stream and the method further includes ceasing the delivering the fuel stream to the burner assembly based at least in part on combusting the byproduct stream. 8. The method of claim 6, wherein the method further includes delivering at least a portion of the hydrogen-rich stream to a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell, wherein a concentration of carbon monoxide in the hydrogen-rich stream is less than 1 part per million. 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the method further includes delivering at least a portion of the mixed gas stream to a fuel cell. 11. The method of claim 1, wherein the feed stream and the fuel stream contain methanol and the water in a water-to-carbon molar ratio of at least 1:1. 12. A method for producing hydrogen gas, the method comprising: drawing a liquid stream from a supply containing a liquid mixture of a methanol and at least 25 vol % water, wherein the liquid stream comprises the methanol and at least 25 vol % water; and selectively delivering the liquid stream as a feed stream for a hydrogen-producing reforming region containing a steam reforming catalyst and as a fuel stream to a heating assembly to produce a heated exhaust stream for heating the hydrogen-producing region to at least a minimum hydrogen-producing temperature; combusting the fuel stream to produce the heated exhaust stream; and producing a resultant stream containing hydrogen gas from the feed stream by a steam reforming reaction. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein the liquid stream further comprises at least one additional component. 14. The method of claim 12, wherein the liquid stream contains methanol and the water in a water-to-carbon molar ratio of at least 1:1. 15. The method of claim 12, wherein prior to the producing step, the method further comprises vaporizing the feed stream. 16. The method of claim 12, wherein the resultant stream further comprises other gases, and further wherein the method includes removing at least a portion of the other gases from the resultant stream. 17. The method of claim 16, wherein the removing step includes separating the resultant stream into a hydrogen-rich stream containing a greater concentration of hydrogen gas than the resultant stream and a byproduct stream containing a greater concentration of the other gases than the resultant stream and the selectively delivering includes selectively delivering based at least in part on a flow rate of the byproduct stream. 18.
