An article for supporting a computer on a user's lap, for cooling the computer, and for isolating the user from heat from the computer, the article comprising: a top surface for contacting the computer; a bottom surface for contacting the user's lap; a tubular foam body; a hollow area between the top surface and the bottom surface; a plastic liner located within the tubular foam body and lining the hollow area; at least one top aperture extending through the top surface to the hollow area to allow airflow between the hollow area and the computer; and a fan positioned and configured to move air through the at least one top aperture to cool the computer. 2. The article of claim 1 wherein the body, the liner, or both, have a cross section that is a quadrilateral, a trapezium, or a triangle, and which has rounded corners. 3. The article of claim 1 further comprising an electric motor connected to the fan and a USB cable electrically connected to the electric motor wherein the electric motor is configured to be powered through the USB cable when the USB cable is plugged into a USB port in the computer; wherein the USB cable passes through a passageway in the plastic liner or between the plastic liner and the foam body. 4. The article of claim 1 comprising an indentation in the top surface to allow air to circulate by the computer, wherein the at least one top aperture extends through the top surface from the indentation to the hollow area to allow airflow between the hollow area and the computer, wherein the top surface of the article has a left side, a right side, a front side, and a back side, and the indentation extends from the left side to the right side, and wherein the computer is supported continuously along the front and the back by the top surface. 5. The article of claim 1 wherein the top surface of the article is at an acute angle to the bottom surface. 6. The article of claim 1 further comprising a left side and a right side opposite the left side that are open to the hollow area in the article to allow air to circulate through the hollow area and through the at least one top aperture past the computer. 7. The article of claim 6 wherein the liner and the body have substantially square ends at the right side and the left side. 8. The article of claim 6 further comprising a back wall extending from the bottom surface to the top surface, wherein the back wall comprises a rear opening to the hollow area to allow air to circulate through the hollow area and through the at least one top aperture past the computer. 9. The article of claim 1 wherein the body comprises a fabric covering that covers all of the foam where the foam is not covered with the liner. 10. The article of claim 1 further comprising fabric covering at least a portion of the body. 11. The article of claim 1 wherein the plastic liner lining the hollow area provides substantially increased stiffness to the body, and wherein the plastic liner has a cross section, when viewed from a right side or a left side, that has rounded corners. 12. The article of claim 1 wherein the article has a front and a back and the body comprises a back wall extending from the bottom surface to the top surface at the back of the article and a front wall extending from the bottom surface to the top surface at the front of the article, wherein the back wall is taller than the front wall and the top surface is not parallel with the bottom surface. 13. The article of claim 1 wherein the at least one top aperture extends through the tubular foam body and through the plastic liner. 14. An article for supporting a computer on a user's lap and for cooling the computer, the article comprising: a foam portion; a plastic portion which provides substantially increased stiffness to the article; a top surface for contacting the computer, wherein the top surface is configured to allow air to circulate by the computer, wherein the top surface of the article has a left side, a right side, a front side, and a back side, and the computer is supported continuously along the front and the back by the top surface; a bottom surface for contacting the user's lap, wherein the top surface of the article is not parallel to the bottom surface; at least one top aperture extending through the top surface to allow airflow past the computer; and a fan positioned and configured to move air through the top aperture and past the computer. 15. The article of claim 14 wherein the bottom surface consists essentially of the foam portion. 16. The article of claim 14 wherein the plastic portion defines a hollow area, and the plastic portion has a cross section, when viewed from the right side or the left side, having rounded corners. 17. The article of claim 14 wherein the top surface consists essentially of the plastic portion. 18. The article of claim 14 wherein the top surface comprises the foam portion covered with fabric. 19. The article of claim 14 further comprising an electric motor connected to the fan and a USB cable electrically connected to the electric motor wherein the electric motor is configured to be powered through the USB cable when the USB cable is plugged into a USB port in the computer; wherein the USB cable passes through a passageway in the plastic portion or between the plastic portion and the foam portion. 20. The article of claim 14, wherein the foam portion is tubular, and wherein the plastic portion defines a hollow area between the top surface and the bottom surface, and wherein the hollow area is lined with the plastic portion. 21. The article of claim 14 wherein the top surface comprises an indentation to allow air to circulate by the computer, wherein the indentation extends from the left side of the top surface to the right side of the top surface, and wherein the top aperture extends through the top surface to the indentation. 22. The article of claim 14 wherein the fan is located in the top aperture in the top surface. 23. A method of manufacturing an article for supporting a computer on a user's lap, the method comprising in any order at least the acts of: forming, installing, obtaining, or providing a foam portion; forming, installing, obtaining, or providing a top surface for contacting the computer and a bottom surface for contacting the user's lap; forming, installing, obtaining, or providing a hollow area between the top surface and the bottom surface; forming, installing, obtaining, or providing at least one top aperture extending through the top surface to the hollow area to allow airflow between the hollow area and the computer; forming, installing, obtaining, or providing a side opening or a rear opening to allow air to circulate through the hollow area and through the top aperture; forming, installing obtaining, or providing fabric covering at least a portion of the foam portion; and forming, installing, obtaining, or providing a plastic portion lining the hollow area that provides substantially increased stiffness to the article. 24. The method of claim 23 further comprising an act of installing, obtaining, or providing a fan positioned and configured to move air through the top aperture and past the computer, wherein the act of installing, obtaining, or providing the fan comprises installing, obtaining, or providing an electric motor connected to the fan and a USB cable electrically connected to the electric motor so that the electric motor is configured to be powered through the USB cable when the USB cable is plugged into a USB port in the computer; and wherein the USB cable passes through a passageway in the plastic portion or between the plastic portion and the foam portion. 25. The method of claim 23 further comprising an act of installing, obtaining, or providing at least one end cap that attaches to or fits concentrically within the plastic portion. 26. The method of claim 23 wherein the article comprises an indentation in the top surface to allow air to circulate by the computer, wherein the top surface of the article has a left side, a right side, a front side, and a back side, and the indentation extends from the left side to the right side, and wherein the computer is supported continuously along the front and the back by the top surface. 27. The method of claim 23 wherein the foam portion is tubular and the article comprises a first side opening to allow air to circulate through the hollow area and through the top aperture. 28. The method of claim 27 wherein the article comprises a second side opening opposite the first side opening to allow air to circulate through the hollow area. 29. The method of claim 23 wherein the article comprises a rear opening to the hollow area to allow air to circulate through the hollow area and through the top aperture, wherein the rear opening comprises a back cap that attaches to or fits within the plastic portion.
