A method of reducing deposition of scale and/or paraffin wax and/or asphaltene from an oil/water mixture in an oil well pipe, comprising the steps of:establishing a radio frequency propagating electromagnetic field in the mixture in the pipe to cause homogeneous seed crystals to form in the mixture, and to deposit particles of the paraffin wax and/or asphaltene on the seed crystals; andcarrying the seed crystals and the deposited particles through the pipe.
