1. A modular storage component configured for selectable connection to a face of a wall stud, a horizontally disposed hang rail, or a substantially planar wall surface, the modular storage component comprising: a body including a central portion connecting a pair of spaced sidewalls;the central portion being selectably connectable to a wall stud when locating a side of the wall stud between the spaced sidewalls and against the central portion;the spaced sidewalls including openings configured to engage a hang rail and being selectably connectable to a hang rail when engaging a hang rail in the openings of the sidewalls;further comprising a plurality of foot portions with each foot portion extending at an angle from a spaced sidewall and being selectably engageable with a substantially planar wall surface when the foot portions are positioned against the substantially planar wall surface;wherein the modular storage component is connectable to a wall stud via installation of a fastener through at least one aperture in the body when a side of a wall stud is located between the spaced sidewalls and against the central portion of the body;wherein the modular storage component is connectable to a substantially planar wall surface via installation of a fastener through at least one aperture in the body when the foot portions are positioned against the substantially planar wall surface; andwherein the modular storage component is connectable to a hang rail, the modular storage component further comprising a latch member movable into engagement with the hang rail when the hang rail is engaged in the openings of the sidewalls. 2. The modular storage component of claim 1, further comprising a substantially rigid hanger element connected to the body. 3. The modular storage component of claim 2, wherein the substantially rigid hanger element is pivotally connected to the body. 4. The modular storage component of claim 2, wherein the substantially rigid hanger element is fixedly connected to the body. 5. The modular storage component of claim 2, further comprising a cushioned coating on the substantially rigid hanger element. 6. The modular storage component of claim 2, wherein the substantially rigid hanger element further comprises a formed wire. 7. The modular storage component of claim 1, further comprising a flange connected to the body, and a substantially rigid hanger element pivotally connected to the body by the flange. 8. The modular storage component of claim 7, wherein the flange is fixedly connected to the body. 9. The modular storage component of claim 1, wherein the latch member is movable from an unlatched position wherein the modular storage component is removable from a hang rail to a latched position wherein the modular storage component is prevented from being inadvertently removed from the respective hang rail. 10. The modular storage component of claim 9, wherein the latch member is connected to the body and slidable between the unlatched position and the latched position. 11. The modular storage component of claim 1, wherein the body includes at least one aperture. 12. The modular storage component of claim 1, wherein the at least one aperture receives a bumper element. 13. A modular storage component configured for selectable connection to a face of a wall stud, a horizontally disposed hang rail, or a substantially planar wall surface, the modular storage component comprising: a body including a central portion connecting a pair of spaced sidewalls;the central portion being selectably connectable to a wall stud when locating a side of the wall stud between the spaced sidewalls and against the central portion;the spaced sidewalls including openings configured to engage a hang rail and being selectably connectable to a hang rail when engaging a hang rail in the openings of the sidewalls;further comprising a plurality of foot portions with each foot portion extending at an angle from a spaced sidewall and being selectably engageable with a substantially planar wall surface when the foot portions are positioned against the substantially planar wall surface;a latch member, the latch member being movable from an unlatched position wherein the modular storage component is removable from a hang rail to a latched position wherein the modular storage component is prevented from being inadvertently removed from the respective hang rail; andwherein the latch member includes a first holding portion and the body includes a second holding portion, and the first holding portion engages the second holding portion when the latch is moved to the latched position. 14. The modular storage component of claim 13, wherein the first holding portion of the latch member further comprises a detent and the second holding portion of the body further comprises a notch, and the detent engages the notch when the latch is moved to the latched position. 15. A modular storage component configured for selectable connection to a face of a wall stud, a horizontally disposed hang rail, or a substantially planar wall surface, the modular storage component comprising: a body including a central portion connecting a pair of spaced sidewalls;the central portion being selectably connectable to a wall stud when locating a side of the wall stud between the spaced sidewalls and against the central portion;the spaced sidewalls including openings configured to engage a hang rail and being selectably connectable to a hang rail when engaging a hang rail in the openings of the sidewalls;further comprising a plurality of foot portions with each foot portion extending at an angle from a spaced sidewall and being selectably engageable with a substantially planar wall surface when the foot portions are positioned against the substantially planar wall surface;further comprising a latch member, wherein the latch member is movable from an unlatched position wherein the modular storage component is removable from a hang rail to a latched position wherein the modular storage component is prevented from being inadvertently removed from the respective hang rail; andwherein each sidewall of the body includes at least one aperture and the latch member includes arms that extend adjacent the sidewalls of the body, and wherein each arm further includes a projection that engages the at least one aperture in the respective sidewall. 16. The modular storage component of claim 15, wherein each arm of the latch member includes a stop at an upper end of the arm, with the stop configured to permit the latch member to be in an upward position prior to connection to a hang rail and to automatically be forced downward to an unlatched position as the modular storage component is being moved rearward and downward to engage a hang rail. 17. The modular storage component of claim 16, wherein the stop on each arm of the latch member includes an inclined entry surface that upon engagement with a hang rail. 18. A modular storage component configured for selectable connection to a face of a wall stud, a horizontally disposed hang rail, and a substantially planar wall surface, the modular storage component comprising: a body including a central portion connecting a pair of spaced sidewalls;the central portion being selectably connectable to a wall stud via installation of a fastener through at least one aperture in the central portion of the body when a side of the wall stud is positioned between the spaced sidewalls and against the central portion;the spaced sidewalls including openings configured to engage a hang rail and being selectably connectable to a hang rail when engaging a hang rail in the openings of the sidewalls; andfurther comprising a plurality of foot portions with each foot portion extending at an angle from a spaced sidewall and the body being selectively connectable to a substantially planar wall surface via installation of a fastener through at least one aperture in the body when the foot portions are positioned against the substantially planar wall surface. 19.
