초록

Apparatuses, methods and systems for liquid flow control and beverage preparation are disclosed. The apparatuses, methods and systems of the present invention include liquid flow control and beverage preparation capsules, pods, cartridges, pouches, systems, and modules for controlling and directing flow streams of liquid through a beverage preparation process. The apparatuses, methods and systems of the present invention may be used in combination with or included as an integral assembly of any apparatus, method or system for liquid dispension.

1. A method for enhancing a liquid with an enhancement component to dispense a beverage comprising: a. directing a liquid from a liquid source through a liquid flow path;b. directing an enhancement component from an enhancement component source through an enhancement flow path that is separate from the liquid flow path;c. moving the enhancement component alone through the enhancement flow path to a mixing point using liquid from the liquid flow path by passing the liquid from the liquid source through the liquid flow path to push the enhancement component from the enhancement component source into the liquid flow path;d. creating a mixture comprising the enhancement component from the enhancement flow path and the liquid from the liquid flow path; ande. dispensing the mixture as a beverage at a beverage receiving point. 2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of passing the liquid from the liquid source through the liquid flow path to draw the enhancement component from the enhancement component source into the liquid flow path by Venturi effect. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the enhancement component is also drawn into the liquid flow path by Venturi effect created by passing the liquid from the liquid source through the liquid flow path. 4. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of housing the liquid flow path, the enhancement flow path, the enhancement component and the enhancement component source within a structure comprising: a. a cartridge;b. a capsule;c. a pouch; ord. a module. 5. The method of claim 4 further comprising the step of: a. integrating the structure into a water and/or ice dispenser of a refrigerated appliance;b. removably inserting the structure at a water and/or ice dispenser; orc. removably inserting the structure at a water and/or ice dispenser of a refrigerated appliance. 6. The method of claim 4 further comprising the step of combining or affecting the liquid with the liquid enhancement component: a. at an outlet of the structure;b. external to the structure in midair before the beverage receiving point;c. at the beverage receiving point;d. at an inlet of the structure; ore. within the structure. 7. The method of claim 4 further comprising the step of opening or rupturing an inlet and an outlet of the structure by passing the liquid through the liquid flow path. 8. A method for enhancing a liquid with an enhancement component to dispense a beverage comprising: a. providing a liquid flow path and a separate enhancement flow path;b. directing a liquid from a liquid source through the liquid flow path;c. directing an enhancement component from an enhancement component source through the enhancement flow path;d. moving the enhancement component through the enhancement flow path separate from the liquid in the liquid flow path using at least a portion of the liquid from the liquid flow path by passing the liquid from the liquid source through the liquid flow path to push the enhancement component from the enhancement component source into the liquid flow path;e. creating a beverage mixture from the enhancement component and the liquid at a mixing point; andf. dispensing the beverage mixture from the mixing point to a beverage receiving point. 9. The method of claim 8 wherein the enhancement component is also drawn through the enhancement flow path to the mixing point by Venturi effect created by passing the liquid from the liquid source through the liquid flow path. 10. The method of claim 8 further comprising the step of introducing the liquid into the liquid flow path to open a seal blocking fluid communication of the enhancement component through the enhancement flow path to the mixing point. 11. The method of claim 8 further comprising the step of housing the liquid flow path, the enhancement flow path, the enhancement component and the enhancement component source within a structure. 12. The method of claim 11 wherein the mixing point is outside the structure between the structure and the beverage receiving point. 13. The method of claim 8 further comprising the step of conduitlessly moving the beverage mixture from the mixing point to the beverage receiving point. 14. A method for enhancing a liquid with an enhancement component to dispense a beverage comprising: a. providing a structure having a liquid flow path, a separate enhancement flow path and an enhancement component source;b. directing a liquid from a liquid source through the liquid flow path;c. moving the enhancement component through the enhancement flow path separate from the liquid in the liquid flow path using at least a portion of the liquid from the liquid flow path by passing the liquid from the liquid source through the liquid flow path to push the enhancement component from the enhancement component source into the liquid flow path;e. creating a beverage mixture from the enhancement component and the liquid at a mixing point; andf. conduitlessly dispensing the beverage mixture from the mixing point directly to a beverage receiving point. 15. The method of claim 14 wherein the mixing point is outside the structure. 16. The method of claim 14 wherein the mixing point is inside the structure. 17. The method of claim 14 further comprising the step of directing the enhancement component from the enhancement component source through the enhancement flow path in the structure separate from the liquid in the liquid flow path.
