The medical connector of claim 1, further comprising at least one strut attached to the valve member, at least a portion of the strut extending substantially parallel to the central axis of the valve member. 3. The medical connector of claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the first opened end of the valve member comprises a larger cross-sectional area than a cross-sectional area of the conduit. 4. The medical connector of claim 1, further comprising an actuator for manually displacing the valve member from the first position. 5. The medical connector of claim 1, further comprising a resilient biasing member configured to couple the valve member and the housing. 6. The medical connector of claim 1, wherein the priming cap comprises a filter through which air can pass but not a liquid. 7. The medical connector of claim 1, wherein the valve member and conduit are both rigid. 8. The medical connector of claim 1, wherein the first end is a male end having a male luer tip, the second end is a female end, and the valve member is configured to at least partially extend into an interior space of the male luer tip. 9. The medical connector of claim 8, further comprising a sealing element disposed within the housing and configured to inhibit fluid communication through the hollow bore of the housing between the interior of the male luer tip of the housing and the exterior of the valve member. 10. The medical connector of claim 1, further comprising means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid between the second end and the internal passageway of the valve member. 11. The medical connector of claim 10, wherein the means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid comprises a chamber with at least two holes attached to the valve member. 12. The medical connector of claim 10, wherein the means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid comprises a poppet at least partially disposed in a narrow passageway between an interior space in the second end and an entrance of the passageway of the valve member. 13. The medical connector of claim 1, further comprising: a male luer tip positioned at the first end of the housing;a biasing member configured to couple the valve member and the housing, at least a portion of the biasing member being secured to an outside surface of the housing; anda sealing element disposed within the housing and configured to inhibit fluid communication through the hollow bore of the housing between an interior of the male luer tip of the housing and the exterior of the valve member. 14. The medical connector of claim 13, further comprising at least one strut attached to the valve member, at least a portion of the strut extending substantially parallel to the central axis of the valve member. 15. The medical connector of claim 13, wherein at least a portion of the first opened end of the valve member comprises a larger cross-sectional area than the cross-sectional area of the conduit. 16. The medical connector of claim 13, further comprising an actuator for manually displacing the valve member from the first position. 17. The medical connector of claim 13, further comprising a sealing element disposed between the overlapping portion of the valve member and the conduit. 18. The medical connector of claim 13, wherein the priming cap comprises a filter through which air can pass but not a liquid. 19. The medical connector of claim 13, further comprising means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid between the second end and the internal passageway of the valve member. 20. The medical connector of claim 19, wherein the means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid comprises a chamber with at least two holes attached to the valve member. 21. The medical connector of claim 19, wherein the means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid comprises a poppet at least partially disposed in a narrow passageway between an interior space in the second end and an entrance of the passageway of the valve member. 22. A method of providing a medical connector, the method comprising: providing a medical connector comprising a housing with a central axis and a hollow bore having a first end and a second end;providing a priming cap comprising an internal fluid passageway, the priming cap being removably attachable to the first end of the housing, wherein the priming cap is configured to permit air to pass through the internal fluid passageway and exit the priming cap, while substantially preventing a liquid from exiting the priming cap when the liquid is advanced into the priming cap through the medical connector;wherein: the medical connector comprises a valve member configured to at least partially extend into an interior space of the first end of the housing from a closed position in which fluid flow through at least the first end of the housing is obstructed to an open position in which fluid flow through at least the first end of the housing is permitted, the valve member comprising a first opened end, a second end, and an internal passageway; andthe medical connector further comprises a rigid conduit in fluid communication with the second end of the housing and the first opened end of the valve member, the conduit and the first opened end of the valve member being moveable relative to each other along the central axis such that at least a portion of the valve member and the conduit overlap, thereby producing a substantial change in volume in an interior region of the housing between an end of the valve member and the second end as the valve member moves from a first position in which fluid flow through the first end of the housing is obstructed to a second position in which fluid flow through the first end of the housing is permitted, the volume of the interior region being larger in the first position than in the second position. 23. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 22, wherein the medical connector comprises at least one strut attached to the valve member, at least a portion of the strut extending substantially parallel to the central axis of the valve member. 24. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 22, wherein at least a portion of the first opened end of the valve member comprises a larger cross-sectional area than a cross-sectional area of the conduit. 25. The method of providing a primable medical connector of claim 22, wherein the medical connector comprises an actuator for manually displacing the valve member from the first position. 26. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 22, wherein the first end of the housing is a male end having a male luer tip and the second end is a female end. 27. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 22, wherein the priming cap comprises a filter through which air can pass but not a liquid. 28. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 22, wherein the valve member and conduit are both rigid. 29. The method of providing a primable medical connector of claim 22, wherein the medical connector comprises a sealing element positioned within the housing and adapted to inhibit fluid communication between the second end of the housing and the first end of the housing. 30. The method of providing a primable medical connector of claim 29, wherein the sealing element further comprises a slit. 31. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 29, wherein the sealing element is adapted to cooperate with a portion of the conduit to permit fluid flow between the second end of the housing and the portion of the interior of the housing with a changing volume. 32. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 22, wherein the medical connector comprises means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid between the second end and the internal passageway of the valve member. 33. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 32, wherein the means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid comprises a chamber with at least two holes attached to the valve member. 34. The method of providing a medical connector of claim 32, wherein the means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid comprises a poppet at least partially disposed in a narrow passageway between an interior space in the second end and an entrance of the passageway of the valve member. 35. A method of using a medical connector having a hollow bore, a first end, and a second end, comprising: removably attaching a priming cap comprising an internal fluid passageway to the first end of the medical connector and a medical implement to the second end of the medical connector, wherein the priming cap is configured to permit air to pass through the internal fluid passageway and exit the priming cap, while substantially preventing liquid from exiting the priming cap;moving a valve member configured to at least partially extend into an interior space of the first end of the medical connector from a closed position in which fluid flow through at least the first end of the medical connector is obstructed to an open position in which fluid flow through at least the first end of the medical connector is permitted, the valve member comprising a first opened end, a second end, and an internal passageway;advancing at least a liquid from the medical implement through the luer connector and into the priming cap and ejecting air, but not the liquid, out of the priming cap;wherein: the medical connector further comprises a conduit in fluid communication with the second end of the medical connector and the first opened end of the valve member, the conduit and the first opened end of the valve member being moveable relative to each other along a central axis of the medical connector such that at least a portion of the valve member and the conduit overlap, thereby producing a substantial change in volume in an interior region of the medical connector between an end of the valve member and the second end as the valve member moves from a first position in which fluid flow through the first end of the medical connector is obstructed to a second position in which fluid flow through the first end of the medical connector is permitted, the volume of the interior region being larger in the first position than in the second position. 36. The method of using a medical connector of claim 35, wherein the medical connector comprises means for selectively impeding the flow of fluid between the second end and the internal passageway of the valve member. 37. The method of using a medical connector of claim 35, wherein the medical connector comprises at least one strut attached to the valve member, at least a portion of the strut extending substantially parallel to the central axis of the valve member. 38. The method of using a medical connector of claim 35, wherein at least a portion of the first opened end of the valve member comprises a larger cross-sectional area than a cross-sectional area of the conduit. 39. The method of using a medical connector of claim 35, wherein the medical connector comprises an actuator for manually displacing the valve member from the first position. 40. The method of using a medical connector of claim 35, wherein the medical connector comprises a sealing element positioned within the medical connector and adapted to inhibit fluid communication between the second end of the medical connector and the first end of the medical connector. 41. The method of using a medical connector of claim 40, wherein the sealing element further comprises a slit. 42. The method of using a medical connector of claim 40, wherein the sealing element is adapted to cooperate with a portion of the conduit to permit fluid flow between the second end of the medical connector and the portion of the interior of the medical connector with a changing volume.
