A system for managing of a plurality of vending machines comprising: a plurality of monitors, each coupled to a respective vending machine in the plurality of vending machines;a plurality of transceivers, each coupled to a respective one of the monitors;a communication gateway coupled to the plurality of transceivers via a cellular telephone system; andan electrical data link between the communication gateway and a data processing system that comprises: a database that stores data from the plurality of monitors;a computer coupled to the database; andsoftware, stored in a memory storage device and executable by said computer, comprising: a gateway communications program that manages data transfer between the communication gateway and the data processing system; andan analytics module that processes the stored data and outputs an operational recommendation for at least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines based on comparing data from at least one monitor in the plurality of monitors to data from at least one other monitor in the plurality of monitors, wherein the analytics module identifies vending machines in the plurality of vending machines that outperform other vending machines in the plurality of vending machines. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the computer comprises a first computer and a second computer, the first computer executing the gateway communications program, the second computer executing the analytics module and displaying the operational recommendation on a web-based interface. 3. The system of claim 2, wherein the web-based interface comprises a graphical user interface, is linked to the first computer via the Internet, and is operative to receive user queries and display query responses from the analytics module on the graphical user interface. 4. The system of claim 1, wherein the analytics module is operative to troubleshoot vending machine hardware problems. 5. The system of claim 1, wherein the operational recommendation comprises an inventory change for the at least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines. 6. The system of claim 1, wherein the operational recommendation comprises a new product offering for the least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines. 7. The system of claim 1, wherein the analytics module is operative to identify a condition associated with a sales increase of the at least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines. 8. The system of claim 1, wherein the analytics module defines a restocking threshold for the at least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines. 9. The system of claim 1, wherein each transceiver is operative to transmit data via a control channel of the cellular telephone system and receive a command transmitted in a page from the communication gateway. 10. The system of claim 1, wherein the software further comprises a reports generator program that tabulates the stored data. 11. The method of claim 1, wherein the operational recommendation specifies a characteristic of a new location for the at least one vending machine. 12. The method of claim 1, wherein computer analysis of the system is operative to reveal a characteristic of a site where an underperforming vending machine should be relocated to increase performance. 13. A method for managing vending sales comprising: sending a request for vending data for receipt by a plurality of vending machines;receiving the requested vending data via a wireless radio communication network;processing the requested, received vending data to identify a deviation at one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines relative to other vending machines in the plurality of vending machines; andgenerating a message in response to identifying the deviation, wherein the message comprises a desirable characteristic for a new site for the one vending machine. 14. The method of claim 13, wherein processing the received vending data comprises comparing the vending data to product offering data. 15. The method of claim 13, wherein the message comprises a recommendation concerning a product. 16. The method of claim 13, wherein the deviation comprises a change in sales of at least one product stocked in the one vending machine. 17. The method of claim 13, further comprising the step of sending the message to the one vending machine. 18. The method of claim 13, wherein the message comprises an instruction intended to change the deviation. 19. The method of claim 13, wherein: the sending step comprises sending the request for vending data to each vending machine in a system of geographically dispersed vending machines via a control channel of the wireless network radio communication network;the receiving step comprises receiving product specific sales data from each vending machine in the system of geographically dispersed vending machines; andthe method further comprises the step of displaying the product specific sales data from each vending machine in the system of geographically dispersed vending machines in a table format. 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the table format categorizes the product specific sales data according to each vending machine. 21. The method of claim 13, wherein: the sending step comprises paging each vending machine in the plurality of vending machines;the receiving step comprises receiving sales data from each vending machine in the plurality of vending machines; andthe processing step comprises cataloging the received sales data from each vending machine in the plurality of vending machines. 22. The method of claim 13, wherein the identified deviation specifies underperformance of the one vending machine relative to the other vending machines, and wherein the method further comprises conducting computer analysis to reveal a characteristic of a site where the underperforming one vending machine should be relocated to increase performance. 23. A system for managing of a plurality of vending machines comprising: a plurality of monitors, each coupled to a respective vending machine in the plurality of vending machines;a plurality of transceivers, each coupled to a respective one of the monitors;a communication gateway coupled to the plurality of transceivers via a cellular telephone system; andan electrical data link between the communication gateway and a data processing system that comprises: a database that stores data from the plurality of monitors;a computer coupled to the database; andsoftware, stored in a memory storage device and executable by said computer, comprising: a gateway communications program that manages data transfer between the communication gateway and the data processing system; andan analytics module that processes the stored data and outputs an operational recommendation for at least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines based on comparing data from at least one monitor in the plurality of monitors to data from at least one other monitor in the plurality of monitors, wherein the analytics module analyzes market data to determine if geographic location is contributing to underperformance of the at least one vending machine. 24. A system for managing of a plurality of vending machines comprising: a plurality of monitors, each coupled to a respective vending machine in the plurality of vending machines;a plurality of transceivers, each coupled to a respective one of the monitors;a communication gateway coupled to the plurality of transceivers via a cellular telephone system; andan electrical data link between the communication gateway and a data processing system that comprises: a database that stores data from the plurality of monitors;a computer coupled to the database; andsoftware, stored in a memory storage device and executable by said computer, comprising: a gateway communications program that manages data transfer between the communication gateway and the data processing system; andan analytics module that processes the stored data and outputs an operational recommendation for at least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines based on comparing data from at least one monitor in the plurality of monitors to data from at least one other monitor in the plurality of monitors, wherein the analytics module correlates vending machine performance to vending machine geographic location. 25. A method for managing vending sales comprising: generating a message requesting data from a plurality of vending machines, for transmission to the plurality of vending machines over a cellular communication system;receiving the requested data from the plurality of vending machines;processing the received, requested data with a computing system to identify at least one vending machine in the plurality of vending machines exhibiting a performance difference relative to at least one other vending machine in the plurality of vending machines; andoutputting a characteristic of the at least one vending machine attributable to the identified performance difference. 26. The method of claim 25, wherein the output characteristic comprises a characteristic of a site conducive to elevated profit generation.
