The article of claim 1, wherein the fluorinated component comprises the fluorinated reactant and the fluorinated reactant comprises at least one trifluoromethyl group. 3. The article of claim 1, wherein the fluorinated component comprises the fluorinated monomer and the fluorinated monomer comprises at least one trifluoromethyl group. 4. The article of claim 1, wherein the operational surface is formed from a material and the coating and the material of the operational surface have been coinjected with each other to form the article. 5. The article of claim 1, wherein the coating comprises a non-volatile fluorinated compound. 6. The article of claim 1, wherein the hydrophobic coating has a thickness of less than about 10 microns. 7. The article of claim 1, wherein the hydrophobic coating has a thickness of less than two microns. 8. The article of claim 1, wherein the hydrophobic coating has a thickness of less than about 50 nanometers. 9. The article of claim 1, wherein the hydrophobic operational surface comprises a coating and the coating comprises particles having an average particle size diameter of less than about 100 microns. 10. The article of claim 1, wherein the hydrophobic operational surface comprises a coating and the coating comprises particles having an average particle size diameter of 100 nanometers or less. 11. The article of claim 1, wherein the hydrophobic operational surface comprises a coating and the coating comprises particles having an average particle size diameter of less than 20 nanometers. 12. The article of claim 1, wherein the hydrophobic coating on the operational surface has a surface energy of about 22 dynes/cm or lower. 13. The article of claim 1, wherein the operational surface comprises a plastic material. 14. The article of claim 1, wherein the operational surface comprises a woven material. 15. The article of claim 1, wherein the operational surface comprises an electromagnetically conductive material. 16. The article of claim 1, wherein the at least one non-fluorinated hardenable resin is formed from a methacrylate monomer, a silicone monomer, an epoxy monomer, a urethane monomer, or an oxime monomer.
