A method and apparatus is disclosed that documents and authenticates cap removal data. According to a first aspect of the present invention, the apparatus measures a parameter indicative of the number of times that a cap has been removed by a user. The apparatus also encodes at least the parameter indicative of the cap removal data, thereby deriving encoded cap removal data. The apparatus outputs the encoded cap removal data to a user. According to a second aspect of the present invention, another apparatus receives the encoded cap removal data and decodes it to authenticate the cap removal data. According to a third aspect of the present invention, a medicine container is operable to output a result of a game based on cap removal data associated with the medicine container.

1. A method, comprising: determining, by a medicine container, whether a patient has complied with a cap removal requirement associated with the medicine container;generating, in the case that the patient is determined to be compliant with the cap removal requirement, a random number; andcausing at least one of the random number and a result associated with the random number to be output via the medicine container. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the result comprises a result of a game of chance. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the result is displayed on a slot machine interface as a plurality of symbols displayed along a payline of a set of virtual reels. 4. The method of claim 2, wherein the result of the game of chance comprises audio output indicative of the result of the game of chance. 5. The method of claim 2, further comprising: causing an output of a menu of a plurality of available games of chance. 6. The method of claim 5, further comprising: receiving, from the patient, an indication of a selection of the game of chance from the plurality of available games of chance. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the causing of the output of the at least one of the random number and the result associated with the random number is conducted in response to the receiving of the indication of the selection of the game of chance from the plurality of available games of chance. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the causing of the output is conducted upon the expiration of a time period associated with the cap removal requirement. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the expiration of the time period associated with the cap removal requirement coincides with a pre-determined time at which a medication stored in the container is supposed to be taken. 10. The method of claim 1, further comprising; determining the result associated with the random number. 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the result associated with the random number is determined based at least in part on an associated paytable. 12. The method of claim 11, wherein the paytable defines a probability associated with the result. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein the probability is defined at least in part by a magnitude associated with the patient's compliance with the cap removal requirement. 14. The method of claim 13, wherein the probability is defined as a first probability in the case that the magnitude associated with the patient's compliance comprises a first magnitude, and wherein probability is defined as a second probability that is greater than the first probability in the case that the magnitude associated with the patient's compliance comprises a second magnitude greater than the first magnitude. 15. A system, comprising: a processing device operable to: determine whether a patient has complied with a cap removal requirement associated with a container; andgenerate, in the case that the patient is determined to be compliant with the cap removal requirement, a random number;a memory device in communication with the processing device, the memory device comprising Flash RAM operable to store an indication of the satisfaction of the cap removal requirement; andan output device in communication with the processing device, the output device operable to output, in response to at least one of the determining and the generating, at least one of the random number and a result associated with the random number. 16. The system of claim 15, wherein the memory device is further operable to store at least one of the random number and the result associated with the random number. 17. The system of claim 15, wherein the processing device, output device, and memory device are embodied in the container. 18. The system of claim 15, wherein the container comprises a medicine container. 19. The system of claim 15, wherein the container comprises one or more of a food and a drink container. 20. The system of claim 15, wherein the output device is further operable to output the at least one of the random number and the result associated with the random number upon the expiration of a time period associated with the cap removal requirement. 21. The system of claim 20, wherein the expiration of the time period associated with the cap removal requirement coincides with a pre-determined time at which a substance stored in the container is supposed to be taken. 22. The system of claim 15, wherein the output device is further operable to output the at least one of the random number and the result associated with the random number as a collection of slot machine-like graphical symbols. 23. The system of claim 15, wherein the output of the at least one of the random number and the result associated with the random number comprises audio output indicative of the at least one of the random number and the result associated with the random number. 24. The system of claim 15, wherein the result associated with the random number comprises a result of a game of chance. 25. The system of claim 15, wherein the output device is further operable to output a menu of a plurality of available games of chance. 26. The system of claim 25, further comprising: an input device operable to receive, from the patient, an indication of a selection of the game of chance from the plurality of available games of chance. 27. The system of claim 26, wherein the output device is further operable to output the indication of the result of the game of chance in response to the receiving of the indication of the selection of the game of chance from the plurality of available games of chance. 28. A container, comprising: a processor; anda storage device in communication with said processor and storing instructions adapted to be executed by said processor to: determine whether a patient has complied with a cap removal requirement associated with the container;generate, in the case that the patient is determined to be compliant with the cap removal requirement, a random number; andcause at least one of the random number and a result associated with the random number to be output. 29. A non-transitory medium storing instructions adapted to be executed by a processor to: determine whether a patient has complied with a cap removal requirement associated with a medicine container;generate, in the case that the patient is determined to be compliant with the cap removal requirement, a random number; andcause at least one of the random number and a result associated with the random number to be output via the medicine container. 30. A method, comprising: determining, by a medicine container, a compliance status of the medicine container, wherein the compliance status indicates whether a patient has complied with a cap removal requirement associated with the medicine container;generating, in the case that the patient is determined to be compliant with the cap removal requirement, a random number; andcausing at least one of the random number and a result associated with the random number to be output via the medicine container. 31.
