A hand-held laser device that can simultaneously provide multiple types of low level laser therapy treatments to multiple areas of a patient's body simultaneously. The device enables laser light of different pulse repetition rate, different beam shapes and spot sizes to be applied to a patient's body. The device includes multiple laser sources. In the preferred embodiment, two semiconductor diode laser sources simultaneously provide two separate laser beams from separate probes, one laser beam producing laser light at a first pulse repetition rate and the other producing laser light at a second pulse repetition rate.

The method according to claim 1 wherein arranging the first and second handheld probes further comprises arranging the first and second laser beams to be substantially parallel. 5. The method according to claim 4 wherein the first area and second area are adjacent. 6. The method according to claim 4 wherein the energy applied from the first handheld probe is less than 100 milliwatts and the energy applied from the second handheld probe is less than 100 milliwatts. 7. The method according to claim 6 wherein the energy applied from the first handheld probe is less than 20 milliwatts and the energy applied from the second handheld probe is less than 20 milliwatts. 8. A method of treating a patient comprising: a. passing a first laser beam through a first optical arrangement to transform the first laser beam into a first spot shape;b. applying laser energy to the patient at a first area using a first handheld probe that is not connected to a support structure and emits the first laser beam as it is moved;c. passing a second laser beam through a second optical arrangement to transform the second laser beam into a second spot shape;d. applying laser energy to the patient at a second area using a second handheld probe that is not connected to a support structure and emits the second laser beam as it is moved; ande. arranging the first and second handheld probes such that the first and second laser beams do not intersect while applying laser energy to the patient. 9. The method of claim 8 further comprising applying laser energy to the first and second areas causes no detectable temperature rise of the treated and surrounding tissue. 10. The method according to claim 9 further comprising selecting the first area and the second area to treat a first problem. 11. The method according to claim 9 further comprising selecting the first area to treat a first problem and selecting the second area to treat a second problem. 12. The method according to claim 9 wherein arranging the first and second hand held probes further comprises arranging the first and second laser beams to be substantially parallel. 13. The method according to claim 12 wherein the first area and second area are adjacent. 14. The method according to claim 9 wherein the first spot shape is different from the second spot shape. 15. The method according to claim 9 wherein the laser energy emitted from the first handheld probe has a wavelength of about 635 nm. 16. The method according to claim 9 wherein the laser energy emitted from the first and second handheld probes has a wavelength of about 635 nm. 17. The method according to claim 9 wherein the energy applied from the first handheld probe is less than 100 milliwatts and the energy applied from the second handheld probe is less than 100 milliwatts. 18. The method according to claim 17 wherein the energy applied from the first handheld probe is less than 20 milliwatts and the energy applied from the second handheld probe is less than 20 milliwatts. 19. A method of treating two separate medical conditions comprising: a) providing a multi-probe device comprising: i) two laser energy sources, each generating one or more laser beams;ii) two handheld probes from which the laser beams emit, wherein:iii) each of the handheld probes houses one or more laser energy sources therewithin;iv) each of the handheld probes emits one or more laser beams while being freely moved by a user's hand relative to the surface of the skin of a patient; andv) an optical arrangement attached to each handheld probe for receiving one or more laser beams and for transforming each of the laser beams into a desired spot shape;b) retaining one of the handheld probes within a user's hand and holding the handheld probe so that laser light impinges a first desired location on a patient's body to treat a first medical condition; andc) retaining the other handheld probe within a user's hand and holding the handheld probe so that the laser light impinges a second desired location on the patient's body to treat a second medical condition that is different from the first medical condition.
