There is provided a walker apparatus having a brake, a braking handle, a brake wire, a brake rod, and a brake rod assembly. A gripping member connects to the brake wire. The gripping member includes a plate having a first end, a second end and an aperture near the second end. The plate connects to the brake wire near the first end and the plate slidably receives the brake rod through the aperture near the second end. The gripping member includes a clamp that engages the brake wire via a set screw. The gripping member is spring-biased to remain free of the brake rod in a non-actuated mode. When the braking handle actuates the brake wire, the plate tilts with the first end elevating relative to the second end, thereby causing the plate to engage with and abut the brake rod for thereby actuating the brake rod to brake.

1. A walker apparatus comprising: a frame member; a ground-engaging wheel rotatably mounted to the frame member; a braking handle; a connection member operatively connected to the braking handle; a brake for braking the wheel; and a self-adjusting brake rod assembly disposed within the frame member,
1. A walker apparatus comprising: a frame member; a ground-engaging wheel rotatably mounted to the frame member; a braking handle; a connection member operatively connected to the braking handle; a brake for braking the wheel; and a self-adjusting brake rod assembly disposed within the frame member, the brake rod assembly including a brake rod operatively connected to the brake,a gripping member having a first end, an adjustment mechanism supported by and integrally connected to the first end of the gripping member, the adjustment mechanism adjustably engaging the connecting member, a second end spaced-apart from the first end and an aperture near the second end, the gripping member slidably receiving the brake rod through the aperture near the second end, the gripping member being spring-biased to remain free of the brake rod in a non-actuated mode and, when the braking handle is squeezed to actuate the connection member, the gripping member tilting with the first end being elevated relative to the second end, thereby causing the gripping member to engage with and abut the brake rod for thereby actuating the brake rod, the brake braking the wheel upon actuation of the brake rod. 2. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the adjustment mechanism is a set screw. 3. The apparatus as claimed in claim 2, wherein the connection member is made of wire. 4. The apparatus as claimed in claim 2, where in the brake rod is hexagonal. 5. The apparatus as claimed in claim 2, wherein the gripping member has a plate-like shape. 6. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the gripping member is L-shaped in cross-section, the adjustment mechanism being axially offset from the aperture of the gripping member. 7. A brake rod assembly for a walker apparatus, the walker apparatus having a brake handle and a brake, the assembly comprising: a connection member operatively connected to the brake handle;a brake rod operatively connected to the brake; anda spring-biased gripping member having a first end, an adjustment mechanism supported by and integrally connected to the first end of the gripping member, the adjustment mechanism adjustably connecting to the connection member, a second end spaced-apart therefrom and an aperture disposed adjacent to the second end of the gripping member, the brake rod being configured to slidably extend through said aperture throughout height adjustment of the walker apparatus, whereby actuation of the brake handle actuates the connection member, causing the first end of the gripping member to tilt upwards relative to the second end of the gripping member, which causes portions of the gripping member surrounding said aperture of the gripping member to grip and actuate the brake rod for actuating the brake. 8. The assembly as claimed in claim 7, wherein the adjustment mechanism includes a clamp that adjustably connects to the connection member. 9. The assembly as claimed in claim 7, wherein the adjustment mechanism includes a set screw that adjustably connects to the connection member. 10. The assembly as claimed in claim 7, further including a pair of coil springs, each connecting to the walker apparatus and respective ones of the first end and the second end of the gripping member, the springs being configured to bias the gripping member downwards. 11. A walker apparatus having the self-adjusting brake rod assembly as claimed in claim 7. 12. A walker apparatus having a brake handle, a ground-engaging wheel, a pair of telescoping tubes including an inner tube and an outer tube, the brake handle operatively connecting to a first one of the tubes, the ground-engaging wheel operatively connecting to a second one of the tubes, a brake for inhibiting rotation of the wheel, the brake operatively connecting to the tubes and a self-adjusting brake rod assembly disposed within the tubes and comprising: a brake wire operatively connected to the brake handle;a brake rod operatively connected to the brake;a gripping member having a first end, a second end spaced-apart therefrom, an aperture disposed adjacent to the second end of the gripping member, the brake rod being configured to slidably extend through said aperture, and a set screw, supported by and integrally connected to the first end of the gripping member, the set screw being configured to adjustably engage the brake wire, the gripping member being spring-biased to remain free of the brake rod in a non-actuated mode, and actuation of the brake handle moves the brake wire axially, causing the first end of the gripping member to tilt upwards relative to the second end of the gripping member, which in turn causes portions of the gripping member surrounding said aperture of the gripping member to grip the brake rod and actuate the brake rod thereby, which in turn causes the brake to inhibit rotation of the wheel.
