A mobile wireless communications device comprising: a portable housing;wireless communications circuitry carried by said portable housing;an antenna carried within said portable housing and coupled to said wireless communications circuitry;at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element adjacent an exterior surface of said portable housing and being entirely laterally spaced apart from said antenna; andan adhesive layer securing said at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive beam shaping element to the exterior surface of said portable housing. 2. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 1 wherein said at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element comprises at least one generally rectangular metal layer. 3. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 1 wherein the exterior surface of said portable housing has a color; and further comprising a cover layer over said at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element having the color of said portable housing. 4. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 1 wherein said portable housing has a top portion and a bottom portion; and wherein said antenna is carried by the bottom portion of said portable housing. 5. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 1 wherein said at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element comprises a plurality thereof. 6. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 1 wherein said at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element is positioned substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of said portable housing. 7. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 1 wherein said wireless communications circuitry comprises a cellular transceiver. 8. A mobile wireless communications device comprising: a portable housing;wireless communications circuitry carried by said portable housing;an antenna carried within said portable housing and coupled to said wireless communications circuitry;a plurality of electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping elements adjacent an interior surface of said portable housing and being entirely laterally spaced apart from said antenna; andan adhesive layer securing said plurality of electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping elements to the interior surface of said portable housing. 9. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 8 wherein said plurality of electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping elements each comprises at least one generally rectangular metal layer. 10. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 8 wherein said portable housing comprises a top portion and a bottom portion; and wherein said antenna is carried by the bottom portion of said portable housing. 11. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 8 wherein said plurality of electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping elements is positioned substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of said portable housing. 12. The mobile wireless communications device of claim 8 wherein said wireless communications circuitry comprises a cellular transceiver. 13. A method for making a mobile wireless communications device comprising: positioning wireless communications circuitry and an antenna coupled thereto within a portable housing; andadhesively securing at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element to an exterior surface of the portable housing in entirely laterally spaced apart relation from the antenna. 14. The method of claim 13 wherein the at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element comprises at least one generally rectangular metal layer. 15. The method of claim 13 wherein the exterior surface of the portable housing has a color; and further comprising positioning a cover layer over the at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element having the color of the portable housing. 16. The method of claim 13 wherein the at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element comprises a plurality thereof. 17. The method of claim 13 wherein the at least one electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element is positioned substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the portable housing. 18. A method for making a mobile wireless communications device comprising: positioning wireless communications circuitry and an antenna coupled thereto within a portable housing; andadhesively securing a plurality of electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping elements to an interior surface of the portable housing in entirely laterally spaced apart relation from the antenna. 19. The method of claim 18 wherein the plurality of electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping elements each comprises at least one generally rectangular metal layer. 20. The method of claim 18 wherein the plurality of electrically floating, electrically conductive, antenna beam shaping element is positioned substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the portable housing.
