Internal collars and external saddle taps can be used to install taps on a main duct in a manner that maintains duct section joint integrity. A saddle tap assembly may include an external slip tap, internal tap collar, a duct section, and adhesive. The external slip tap and the internal tap collar may each have a flange. The flanges may be curved. The flange of the internal collar may have a sheared portion permitting the flange of the internal collar to pass through an opening in a section of duct. The duct may have an opening with one or more notches. A method of installation can be more efficient and more cost-effective than prior solutions. An installation tool can be used for installing saddle tap assemblies while an adhesive cures.

The saddle tap assembly of claim 2, wherein the adhesive disposed between the internal slip collar and the duct forms a second internal ring seal that may be exposed to corrosive environments. 6. The saddle tap assembly of claim 1, wherein the adhesive disposed between the internal slip collar and the external saddle tap forms a first internal ring seal that may be exposed to corrosive environments. 7. The saddle tap assembly of claim 1, wherein the duct comprises fiber-reinforced plastic and a fluoropolymer film. 8. An assembly comprising: a duct with an opening, wherein the opening includes one or more notches;an internal slip collar including a cylindrical portion having a first end and a second end, wherein the cylindrical portion defines a first passageway between the first end and the second end; anda flange, wherein the flange is coupled to the second end, wherein the first end is adapted to fit through an opening in a duct section, wherein the flange prevents the internal slip collar from completely passing through the opening in the duct section, wherein the flange is a generally circular flange that extends outward radially from the cylindrical portion and the flange comprises a first sheared side and a second sheared side;an external saddle tap including a throat portion having a first end and a second end, wherein the throat portion defines a second passageway between the first end and the second end, anda saddle flange coupled to the first end and adapted to fit over the internal slip collar when the first end of the internal slip collar has been fit through the opening in the duct section. 9. The assembly of claim 8, wherein the first and second sheared sides of the flange permit the internal slip collar to fit through the opening, wherein the opening comprises a first notch and a second notch. 10. The assembly of claim 8wherein the internal slip collar comprises a flange that prevents the internal slip collar from completely passing through the opening in the duct section. 11. The external saddle tap of claim 10, wherein the external saddle tap comprises fiber reinforced plastic and a fluoropolymer film. 12. A method of installing a saddle tap assembly comprising: obtaining a section of duct;obtaining an internal slip collar with a flange end and a collar end;obtaining an external saddle tap with a saddle flange end;cutting an opening in the duct, wherein the opening is sized to accept the collar end of the internal slip collar, wherein the opening comprises one or more notches, wherein the one or more notches permit passage of the internal slip collar when appropriately positioned;applying an adhesive to the internal slip collar, wherein the adhesive is applied to an inside lip of the flange end of the internal slip collar;disposing the internal slip collar in the opening; anddisposing the external saddle tap over the internal slip collar, wherein the saddle flange end is positioned over the collar end of the internal slip collar. 13. The method of claim 12 further comprising: applying an adhesive to the external saddle tap, wherein the adhesive is applied to a bottom surface of the saddle flange end of the external slip collar. 14. The method of claim 13, further comprising applying clamps to the saddle tap assembly after the external saddle tap has been disposed over the internal slip collar while the adhesive cures. 15. The method of claim 12, wherein the flange end prevents the internal slip collar from passing through the opening. 16. The method of claim 12, wherein the flange end comprises a radial flange with a first sheared portion and a second sheared potion. 17. An assembly comprising: a duct with an opening, wherein the opening includes one or more notches;an internal slip collar including a cylindrical portion having a first internal slip collar end and a second internal slip collar end, anda flange, wherein the flange is coupled to the second internal slip collar end, wherein the first internal slip collar end is adapted to fit through an opening in a duct section, wherein the flange prevents the internal slip collar from completely passing through the opening in the duct section, and wherein the flange is a generally circular flange that extends outward radially from the cylindrical portion and the flange comprises a first sheared side and a second sheared side;an external saddle tap including a throat portion having a first external saddle tap end and a second external saddle tap end, anda saddle flange coupled to the first external saddle tap end and adapted to fit over the internal slip collar when the first internal slip collar end has been fit through the opening in the duct section; and an adhesive disposed between the internal slip collar and the external saddle tap.
