The composite seat pan according to claim 1, wherein each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam is an extruded composite beam, wherein each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam has a forward flange, a rear flange and a U-shaped section connecting the forward flange and the rear flange; and wherein the seat pan membrane is fixed directly to each of the forward and rear flanges of each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam. 3. The composite seat pan according to claim 2, wherein each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam is a continuous compression molded composite beam. 4. The composite seat pan according to claim 2, wherein each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam comprises a thermoplastic resin and at least one layer of carbon fiber material. 5. The composite seat pan according to claim 4, wherein the thermoplastic resin comprises polyetherketoneketone (PEKK). 6. The composite seat pan according to claim 2, wherein more than fifty percent of fibers in the fore cross beam are oriented at approximately ±5 degrees relative to a major longitudinal axis of the fore cross beam, and less than fifty percent of the fibers in the fore cross beam are oriented at approximately ±65 degrees relative to the major longitudinal axis of the fore cross beam; and more than fifty percent of the fibers in the aft cross beam are oriented at approximately ±5 degrees relative to a major longitudinal axis of the aft cross beam, and less than fifty percent of the fibers in the aft cross beam are oriented at approximately ±65 degrees relative to the major longitudinal axis of the aft cross beam. 7. The composite seat pan according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of spreader bars coupling the aft cross beam to the fore cross beam. 8. The composite seat pan according to claim 1, wherein the seat pan membrane comprises a carbon graphite fiber reinforcing material sandwiched between two layers of aramid fiber material composite. 9. The composite seat pan according to claim 1, further comprising at least one pair of seat belt anchors provided in at least one of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam. 10. A composite seat pan for an aircraft passenger seat, the composite seat pan comprising: an open-section fore cross beam;an open-section aft cross beam; anda composite seat pan membrane carried by the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam, the seat pan membrane being configured as a structural element of the composite seat pan, such that the seat pan membrane is configured to increase a strength of the seat pan for purposes of a fore-aft load path, and is further configured to act as a diagonal tension web upon application of a forward force to the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam that causes the seat pan to buckle, wherein each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam has a forward flange, a rear flange and a U-shaped section connecting the forward flange and the rear flange; and wherein the seat pan membrane is fixed directly to each of the forward and rear flanges of each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam. 11. The composite seat pan according to claim 10, wherein each of the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam is an extruded composite beam. 12. The composite seat pan according to claim 11, wherein more than fifty percent of fibers in the fore cross beam are oriented at approximately ±5 degrees relative to a major longitudinal axis of the fore cross beam, and less than fifty percent of the fibers in the fore cross beam are oriented at approximately ±65 degrees relative to the major longitudinal axis of the fore cross beam; and more than fifty percent of the fibers in the aft cross beam are oriented at approximately ±5 degrees relative to a major longitudinal axis of the aft cross beam, and less than fifty percent of the fibers in the aft cross beam are oriented at approximately ±65 degrees relative to the major longitudinal axis of the aft cross beam. 13. A composite seat pan for a lightweight aircraft passenger seat, the composite seat pan comprising: an open-section fore cross beam having a first forward flange, a first rear flange and a first U-shaped section connecting the first forward flange and the first rear flange;an open-section aft cross beam having a second forward flange, a second rear flange and a second U-shaped section connecting the second forward flange and the second rear flange;wherein more than fifty percent of fibers in the fore cross beam are oriented at approximately ±5 degrees relative to a major longitudinal axis of the fore cross beam, and less than fifty percent of the fibers in the fore cross beam are oriented at approximately ±65 degrees relative to the major longitudinal axis of the fore cross beam;wherein more than fifty percent of the fibers in the aft cross beam are oriented at approximately ±5 degrees relative to a major longitudinal axis of the aft cross beam, and less than fifty percent of the fibers in the aft cross beam are oriented at approximately ±65 degrees relative to the major longitudinal axis of the aft cross beam;at least one pair of seat belt anchors provided in at least one of said first U-shaped section of said fore cross beam and said second U-shaped section of said aft cross beam;a plurality of spaced-apart spreader bars extending between the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam;a pair of composite support legs carried by a pair of the spreader bars, respectively; anda post-buckled seat pan membrane carried by the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam, the seat pan membrane being configured as a structural element of the composite seat pan that forms a diagonal membrane buckle along a diagonal tension field upon application of a forward force to the fore cross beam and the aft cross beam.
