The scroll component of claim 1, wherein a powder metal that forms the sintered powder metal scroll member comprises iron and one or more elements selected from the group consisting of carbon, nickel, molybdenum, chromium, copper, and mixtures thereof, wherein the sintered powder metal scroll member has a density of greater than or equal to about 6.8 g/cm3, comprises at least 90% per volume pearlite, and less than about 20% free graphite. 10. The scroll component of claim 1, wherein a powder metal that forms the sintered powder metal scroll member comprises manganese sulfide. 11. A scroll component for a scroll machine, comprising: a sintered powder metal scroll member defining an involute scroll form and a baseplate; andat least one machined surface region corresponding to a region of the sintered powder metal scroll member having a sealing polymer disposed in pores of the sintered powder metal after sintering. 12. The scroll component of claim 11, wherein the sintered powder metal scroll member further comprises a hub adjacent to the baseplate, wherein the at least one machined surface region corresponds to a surface of the involute scroll form, the baseplate, the hub, or combinations thereof. 13. The scroll component of claim 11, wherein the sintered powder metal scroll member further comprises a hub adjacent to the baseplate and further comprises a sinter joint disposed between the hub and the baseplate. 14. The scroll component of claim 11, wherein the sintered powder metal scroll member further comprises a hub adjacent to the baseplate and wherein the hub is formed integrally with the baseplate and involute scroll form. 15. The scroll component of claim 11, wherein the sealing polymer is cured. 16. The scroll component of claim 11, wherein the sealing polymer comprises a methacrylate blend with unsaturated polyesters. 17. A method for forming a scroll component for a scroll machine, the method comprising: sintering a powder metal to form a sintered powder metal scroll member defining an involute scroll form and a baseplate;impregnating pores of a surface of the sintered powder metal scroll member with a sealing polymer after the sintering; andmachining at least one region of the surface of the sintered powder metal scroll member having pores impregnated with the sealing polymer. 18. The method of claim 17, further comprising curing of the sealing polymer prior to the machining. 19. The method of claim 17, wherein the sintered powder metal scroll member further defines a hub adjacent to the baseplate and the sintering further comprises forming a sinter joint between the hub and the baseplate. 20. The method of claim 17, wherein the sintered powder metal scroll member further defines a hub adjacent to the baseplate and the method further comprises first forming a green powder metal scroll member prior to the sintering, wherein the green powder metal scroll member comprises the involute scroll form, the baseplate, and the hub adjacent to the baseplate. 21. The method of claim 17, wherein the sealing polymer comprises a methacrylate blend with unsaturated polyesters. 22. The method of claim 17, wherein the sintering is conducted until the sintered powder metal scroll member has a density of greater than or equal to about 6.8 g/cm3, comprises at least 90% per volume pearlite, and contains less than about 20% free graphite. 23. The method of claim 17, wherein the sintered powder metal scroll member further defines a hub adjacent to the baseplate and the at least one region of the surface of the sintered powder metal scroll member that is machined is selected from a surface of the involute scroll form, the baseplate, the hub, or combinations thereof.
