The method of claim 1, wherein providing the purchase option to purchase the first product comprises: determining terms for purchasing the first product; andpresenting the terms for purchasing the first product. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the purchase option to purchase the first product comprises providing a context menu of actions comprising the purchase option to purchase the first product. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first product is purchased from a seller, and wherein the method further comprises collecting a referral fee from the seller in connection with the purchase. 6. The method of claim 5, further comprising retrieving, from a document server, a digital document matching the text captured by the capture device, wherein retrieving the digital document comprises: identifying the document from which the text was captured;identifying a source of the identified document; andinitiating payment to the identified source of a portion of the referral fee. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the identified source is a publisher. 8. The method of claim 6, wherein the identified source is an author. 9. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying the first product comprises: identifying one or more non-extraneous text fragments in the text captured by the capture device;accessing a data repository that includes a mapping between words or phrases and products; anddetermining that at least one of the text fragments corresponds to a word or phrase associated with the first product. 10. The method of claim 9, wherein identifying one or more non-extraneous text fragments comprises an action selected from the group consisting of (i) stripping stop words, (ii) keeping text that appears within quotes, (iii) keeping proper nouns, (iv) keeping capitalized words, and (v) stripping words from the start and the end of the captured text if their frequency of usage meets or exceeds a predetermined threshold value. 11. The method of claim 1, further comprising: storing, by the system server and in a user-specific log, information comprising a first identifier of the first product; andreceiving, by the system server and from the capture device, a request to access the user-specific log;wherein the request to purchase the first product occurs after the request to access the user-specific log. 12. A non-transitory computer readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by one or more servers, cause the one or more servers to perform operations comprising: receiving text captured by a capture device from a paper form of a published document, the document having a publisher;identifying the published document and the publisher from the captured text;retrieving from a repository of digital documents, a digital form of the published document;identifying a first product, the first product being related to the captured text or to the digital document;providing to the capture device a purchase option to purchase the first product from a seller server;receiving a request to purchase the first product from the capture device and providing the request to the seller server;receiving a purchase notice confirming the purchase from the seller server;associating the purchase with the document and publisher;providing confirmation of the purchase to the capture device; andproviding a purchase and source notice to the publisher, enabling the publisher or an author of the document to obtain compensation for the purchase. 13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12, wherein the text captured by the capture device comprises a reference to the first product and a reference to a second product, and wherein providing the purchase option to purchase the product comprises: assessing availability of each of the referenced products for purchase, wherein the first product is assessed to be available and the second product is assessed to be unavailable, andproviding an opportunity to purchase the first product without providing an opportunity to purchase the second product. 14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12, wherein providing the purchase option to purchase the first product comprises: determining terms for purchasing the first product; andpresenting the terms for purchasing the first product. 15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12, wherein providing the purchase option to purchase the first product comprises providing a context menu of actions comprising the purchase option to purchase the first product. 16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 12, wherein the first product is purchased from a seller, and wherein the operations further comprise collecting a referral fee from the seller in connection with the purchase. 17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16 wherein the operations further comprise retrieving, from a document server, a digital document matching the text captured by the capture device, wherein retrieving the digital document comprises: identifying the document from which the text was captured;identifying a source of the identified document; andinitiating payment to the identified source of a portion of the referral fee. 18. A server, comprising: one or more computing devices; anda non-transitory computer readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform operations, the operations comprising:receiving text captured by a capture device from a paper form of a published document, the document having a publisher,identifying the published document and the publisher from the captured text;retrieving from a repository of digital documents, a digital form of the published document,identifying a first product, the first product being related to the captured text or to the digital document;providing a purchase option to purchase the first product from a seller server,receiving a request to purchase the first product from the capture device and providing the request to the seller server;receiving a purchase notice confirming the purchase from the seller server,associating the purchase with the document and publisher;providing confirmation of the purchase to the capture device; andproviding a purchase and source notice to the publisher, enabling the publisher or an author of the document to obtain compensation for the purchase. 19.
