Weather protection systems, for use in protecting structures and structural elements during severe weather events, are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods of assembling and installing weather protection systems. Weather protection systems of this invention provide fabric to cover a structural element; the fabric is connected to the structure via a clip. 1. A clip for a weather protection system, comprising: a first plate comprising a first anchor opening and a second anchor opening,a second plate comprising a first anchor opening and a second anchor opening, wherein the first plate is separate from the second plate,a plurality of fastening points, wherein said first plate is adapted to be connected to said second plate at said fastening points with fasteners to connect the first and second plates, and wherein said first anchor openings and said plurality of fastening points lie in a first plane and said second anchor openings lie in a second plane that is substantially perpendicular to said first plane, and,wherein the first and second plates are adapted to receive a fabric between the first and second plates, and wherein the clip is flexible. 2. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the first and the second plates each include an inside face and an outside face, wherein the first and second plates connect at the plurality of fastening points with the fasteners such that all or a portion of the inside face of the first plate is opposite all or a portion of the inside face of the second plate. 3. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the first and the second plates each include an inside face and an outside face, wherein the first and second plates connect at the plurality of fastening points with the fasteners such that all or a portion of the inside face of the first plate is opposite all or a portion of the inside face of the second plate, and the first and second plates are adapted to receive the fabric between the inside face of the first plate and the inside face of the second plate. 4. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the clip exhibits flexibility between the first anchor opening and the second anchor opening. 5. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the clip is molded from a nylon resin. 6. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the first plate comprises a fastening point that includes a substantially circular hole through the first plate, wherein the second plate comprises a fastening point for the fastener that includes a cavity rearwardly disposed from an inside face of the second plate, wherein the cavity comprises a substantially circular opening and a substantially cylindrical shaft. 7. The clip according to claim 1, wherein an inside face of the first plate, an inside face of the second plate, or both the first and the second plate comprise one or more engaging members. 8. The clip according to claim 7, wherein the engaging member includes a protrusion or other projection adapted to engage a weave of the fabric interposed between the first and second plate. 9. The clip according to claim 7, wherein the engaging member is an integral triangular projection or tooth disposed along the inside face of the first plate, the second plate, or both the first and the second plate. 10. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the first anchor opening lies in the first plane that is in substantially the same plane as the fastening points of the clip and wherein the second anchor opening lies in the second plane that is substantially perpendicular to such first plane. 11. The clip according to claim 10, wherein the clip comprises a bend that provides a transition between the first and second planes. 12. The clip according to claim 11, wherein one or more reinforcing structures are provided at the bend. 13. The clip according to claim 12, wherein the one or more reinforcing structures comprise a wall, a thickening, a band, or other structure to provide strength at the bend. 14. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the first and second anchor openings aid in positioning the first and second plates of the clip such that the fastening points are aligned. 15. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the second anchor opening on the first plate comprises one or more of a protrusion, wall, or other projection from an inside face of the first plate adapted to be received by the second anchor opening on the second plate of the clip. 16. The clip according to claim 1, wherein first plate comprises the first anchor opening and the second anchor opening, wherein the second plate comprises the first anchor opening and the second anchor opening, wherein the second anchor opening of the first plate comprises an annular protrusion, and the second anchor opening of the second plate comprises a hole, the hole having an opening that is substantially the same shape as, and is just slightly bigger than, an outer wall of the protrusion of the first plate, such that the protrusion of the first plate fits within the hole of the second plate. 17. The clip according to claim 1, wherein the first plate and the second plate comprise a head portion and an anchor portion, wherein the plurality of fastening points are located in the head portion. 18. A clip for a weather protection system, comprising: a first plate comprising a first anchor opening and a second anchor opening, wherein the first plate is flexible between the first anchor opening and the second anchor opening;a second plate comprising a first anchor opening and a second anchor opening, wherein the first plate is flexible between the first anchor opening and the second anchor opening;a plurality of fastening points, wherein said first plate is adapted to be connected to said second plate at said fastening points with fasteners, and wherein said first anchor openings and said plurality of fastening points lie in a first plane and said second anchor openings lies in a second plane that is substantially perpendicular to said first plane; and,wherein the second anchor opening of the first plate comprises a protrusion, and the second anchor opening of the second plate comprises an opening that is substantially the same shape as, and is just slightly bigger than, an outer wall of the protrusion of the first plate, such that the protrusion of the first plate fits within the opening of the second plate. 19. A clip for a weather protection system, comprising: a first plate comprising first and second anchor openings;a second plate comprising first and second anchor openings;the second anchor openings in anchor portions of the first and second plates;a plurality of fastening points in head portions of the first and second plates, wherein said first plate is adapted to be connected to said second plate at said fastening points with fasteners, and wherein said first anchor openings and said plurality of fastening points lie in a first plane and said second anchor openings lies in a second plane that is substantially perpendicular to said first plane; and,the first and the second plates each include an inside face, wherein the first and second plates connect at the plurality of fastening points with the fasteners such that all or a portion of the inside face of the first plate is opposite all or a portion of the inside face of the second plate, wherein the inside face of the first plate, the inside face of the second plate, or both inside faces of the first and the second plate comprise one or more engaging members wherein the clip is flexible. 20. The clip according to claim 19, wherein the head portions are wider than the anchor portions. 21. The clip according to claim 19, wherein the head portions have a generally triangular shape, wherein the anchor portions have a generally rectangular shape.
