Disclosed are apparatuses and methods for use thereof for loading bulk material into freight containers. One apparatus comprises a hopper configured to receive bulk material that is sized and shaped to be at least partially enclosable by a container to occupy a substantial volume of the container and a ram. The ram comprises a plate and a driver configured to move the plate from a back end of the hopper to an open end of the hopper to expel material into a container. Another apparatus comprises a hopper configured to receive bulk material that is sized and shaped to be at least partially enclosable by a container to occupy a substantial volume of the container and a reciprocating conveyor floor system. Optionally, the apparatuses further include a stand and/or collapsible legs to further support the hopper.

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said driver comprises a hydraulic cylinder. 3. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a stand mounted near said first end of said hopper configured to support said hopper above the ground at a height approximately equivalent to the height of said container above the ground. 4. The apparatus of claim 3, further comprising: collapsible legs configured to support said hopper above the ground at a height approximately equivalent to the height of said container above the ground when said collapsible legs are extended. 5. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein said stand remains stationary with respect to said hopper. 6. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein said collapsible legs are mounted to said hopper. 7. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein said collapsible legs are mounted to the ground. 8. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein said collapsible legs are configured to collapse upon impact with said container. 9. The apparatus of claim 4, further comprising a hydraulic mechanism attached to said collapsible legs to collapse said legs prior to impacting said container. 10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said plate is positionable between said first end and said second end of said hopper to define a portion of said hopper to receive the material. 11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said hopper is capable of occupying less than the entire volume of said container. 12. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the driver comprises a chain drive connected to the plate. 13. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the driver comprises a belt drive connected to the plate. 14. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the driver comprises a rack and pinion setup, wherein the pinion is connected to a motor and to the plate to move the plate. 15. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the driver comprises a screw system to move the plate. 16. An apparatus comprising: a first component comprising a hopper for receiving metal scrap material, the hopper comprising a bottom having an external width less than an internal width of an ISO standard-compliant shipping container to thereby allow the bottom to fit within the ISO standard-compliant shipping container, opposing side walls having an external height less than an internal height of the ISO standard shipping container to thereby allow the sides walls to fit within the ISO standard shipping container, a first end, a second end positioned opposite said first end, an open top spanning from the first end to the second end to receive the metal scrap material; anda ram comprising: a plate disposed within the hopper having a width less than an internal width of the hopper, and configured to move between a first position for loading the hopper to a second position at the second end of the hopper for unloading the hopper, anda driver configured for moving the plate between the first end and the second end to thereby shift the metal scrap material out of the hopper;wherein the hopper is fixed in position and oriented so as to enable the container to be moved to receive the hopper therein;wherein the bottom of the hopper, the side walls, the first end and the second end define a metal scrap material holding volume in the hopper;wherein the side walls of the first component are dimensioned to extend into the container and to prevent the metal scrap material from coming into contact with a side wall of the container when the metal scrap material is shifted out of the hopper and into the container. 17. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the driver comprises a hydraulic cylinder. 18. The apparatus of claim 16 further comprising a stand mounted near the first end of the hopper configured to support the hopper above the ground. 19. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein said hopper is capable of occupying less than the entire volume of said container. 20. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the container is mounted on a vehicle and the hopper is fixed in position and oriented so as to enable the vehicle mounted container to be backed into engagement with the hopper to receive the hopper therein and to extend along the entire length of the container. 21. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the driver comprises a chain drive connected to the plate. 22. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the driver comprises a belt drive connected to the plate. 23. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the driver comprises a rack and pinion setup, wherein the pinion is connected to a motor and to the plate to move the plate. 24. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the driver comprises a screw system to move the plate. 25. An apparatus for loading metal scrap material into an ISO standard-compliant shipping container having opposed inside walls, an internal width, an internal height and an external length, and securably mountable to a vehicle, the apparatus comprising: a first component having opposing side walls having an external height less than the internal height of the ISO standard-compliant shipping container, the first component comprising a hopper for receiving the metal scrap material, the first component comprising a bottom having an external width less than the internal width of the ISO standard-compliant shipping container, a first end and a second end positioned opposite said first end, an open top spanning from the first end to the second end, wherein the first end, the second end, the bottom and the side walls define a metal scrap material holding volume in the hopper, [which is substantial relative to a volume of the container,] and the first component is fixed in position and oriented so as to enable the container to be backed into engagement with the first component to thereby at least partially receive the first component therein;a plate disposed within the hopper having a width less than an internal width of the hopper, and configured to move between the first end and the second end of the hopper; anda driver configured for moving the plate between the first end and the second end to shift the material out of the hopper. 26.
