A stapling system configured to be operably attachable to and detachable from a control unit, said stapling system comprising: an end effector, comprising: a staple cartridge carrier;a staple cartridge assembly supported by said staple cartridge carrier, wherein said staple cartridge assembly comprises a plurality of staples removably stored therein; andan anvil supported relative to said staple cartridge carrier and movable from an open position to a closed position;a firing member configured to eject said staples from said staple cartridge assembly; anda housing, comprising: a connector portion attachable to and detachable from the control unit; andan electric motor operably interfacing with said firing member. 2. The stapling system of claim 1, wherein said housing further comprises an electrical contact in communication with said electric motor. 3. The stapling system of claim 1, further comprising a lock portion configured to releasably hold said connector portion to the control unit. 4. The stapling system of claim 1, wherein said firing member comprises a sled movable along an axis between a start position and an end position to eject said staples from said staple cartridge assembly. 5. The stapling system of claim 4, wherein said sled comprises at least one ramped surface configured to lift said staples. 6. The stapling system of claim 4, wherein said firing member further comprises a knife configured to incise tissue captured between said anvil and said staple cartridge assembly. 7. The stapling system of claim 1, wherein said staple cartridge assembly is configured to be removed from said staple cartridge carrier and replaced with a different staple cartridge assembly. 8. The stapling system of claim 1, further comprising a threaded rotatable shaft operably engaged with said electric motor, wherein said electric motor is configured to rotate said threaded rotatable shaft, and wherein said threaded rotatable shaft is threadably engaged with said firing member. 9. A stapling system configured to be releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from a surgical instrument system, said stapling system comprising: a housing comprising an attachment portion releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an electric motor positioned within said housing, wherein as a result of said housing being releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system said electric motor is releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an end effector, comprising: a staple cartridge carrier;a staple cartridge assembly supported by said staple cartridge carrier, wherein said staple cartridge assembly comprises a plurality of staples removably stored therein; andan anvil supported relative to said staple cartridge carrier and movable between an open position and a closed position; andmeans for operating said end effector, wherein said electric motor is operably engaged with said means. 10. The stapling system of claim 9, wherein said housing further comprises an electrical contact in communication with said electric motor. 11. The stapling system of claim 9, further comprising a lock portion configured to releasably hold said housing to the surgical instrument system. 12. The stapling system of claim 9, wherein said means comprises a sled movable along an axis between a start position and an end position to eject said staples from said staple cartridge assembly. 13. The stapling system of claim 12, wherein said sled comprises at least one ramped surface configured to lift said staples. 14. The stapling system of claim 12, wherein said means further comprises a knife configured to incise tissue captured between said anvil and said cartridge assembly. 15. The stapling system of claim 9, wherein said cartridge assembly is configured to be removed from said staple cartridge carrier and replaced with a different staple cartridge assembly. 16. The stapling system of claim 9, wherein said means is configured to contact said anvil and move said anvil into said closed position. 17. A stapling assembly unit configured to be engaged with a surgical instrument system, said stapling assembly unit comprising: a housing comprising an interface releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an electric motor, wherein as a result of said housing being releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system said electric motor is releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an end effector, comprising: a staple cartridge carrier configured to support a staple cartridge assembly, wherein staples are deployable from the staple cartridge assembly; andan anvil supported relative to said staple cartridge carrier and movable from an open position to a closed position; andmeans for performing a function of said end effector, wherein said electric motor is operably engaged with said means. 18. The stapling assembly unit of claim 17, wherein said means is movable along an axis between a start position and an end position to eject the staples from the staple cartridge assembly. 19. The stapling assembly unit of claim 17, wherein said means is configured to contact said anvil and move said anvil into said closed position. 20. A stapling system configured to be operably attachable to and detachable from a control unit, said stapling system comprising: an end effector, comprising: a first jaw;a staple cartridge assembly supported by said first jaw, wherein said staple cartridge assembly comprises a plurality of staples removably stored therein; anda second jaw configured to deform said staples;a firing member configured to eject said staples from said staple cartridge assembly; anda housing, comprising: a connector portion attachable to and detachable from the control unit; andan electric motor operably interfacing with said firing member. 21. A fastening system configured to be releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from a surgical instrument system, said fastening system comprising: a housing comprising an attachment portion releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an electric motor, wherein as a result of said housing being releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system said electric motor is releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an end effector, comprising: a first jaw configured to support a fastener cartridge including fasteners removably stored therein; anda second jaw configured to deform the fasteners; andmeans for operating said end effector, wherein said electric motor is operably engaged with said means. 22. A stapling apparatus configured to be engaged with a surgical instrument system, said stapling apparatus comprising: a housing comprising an interface releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an electric motor, wherein as a result of said housing being releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system said electric motor is releasably attachable to and releasably detachable from the surgical instrument system;an end effector, comprising: a staple cartridge assembly comprising staples removably stored therein; andan anvil configured to deform said staples; andmeans for performing a function of said end effector, wherein said electric motor is operably engaged with said means.
