The fairlead latch device according to claim 3, further comprising a hydraulic actuator for operating the latches. 5. The fairlead latch device according to claim 3, further comprising a manual system for operating the latches. 6. The fairlead latch device according to claim 3, wherein the movement of the latches are linked. 7. The fairlead latch device according to claim 1, wherein the latch housing comprises an instrumentation system for measuring tension in the anchor chain. 8. The fairlead latch device according to claim 1, wherein the latch mechanism comprises a latch position indicator sensor. 9. The fairlead latch device according to claim 1, wherein the upper retainer component comprises at least one pin component, and the upper support structure comprises at least one attachment component corresponding to the at least one pin component, the at least one attachment configured to receive and retain the corresponding pin component. 10.
