System and method of detection and management of user interactions with foreground applications on a mobile device in distributed caching are disclosed. One embodiment includes a method of mimicking, remote from the mobile device, timing characteristics of user activity with the mobile client, polling a content source for the mobile application based on the timing characteristics of the user interaction, on behalf of the mobile device and allowing responses cached on the mobile device for the user activity to be used until a change at the content source is detected, remote from the mobile device.
1. A method for preventing overloading of a wireless network due to user activity, the method comprising: receiving an indication of detected activity of a user in using an application on a mobile device operating in the wireless network;receiving a determined timing characteristics of the activity
1. A method for preventing overloading of a wireless network due to user activity, the method comprising: receiving an indication of detected activity of a user in using an application on a mobile device operating in the wireless network;receiving a determined timing characteristics of the activity of the user in the wireless network;receiving a determined time to live (TTL) for a temporary polling interval, indicating an amount of time for which a resource is to be queried, wherein the TTL is determined in relation to the detected activity by a local proxy operating on the mobile device;substituting a regular polling interval with the temporary polling interval with the TTL;querying, remotely from the mobile device during the TTL, the resource requested in the activity based on the temporary polling interval;receiving a response for the querying of the resource;wherein the response is used to determine if cached content on the mobile device for the activity directed towards the resources is valid; andproviding the response to the mobile device before expiration of the TTL if the cached content is determined not valid;wherein the received determined TTL is determined at a local proxy operating on the mobile device, andwherein a proxy server, remote from the mobile device, queries the resource and receives the TTL in a poll request from the local proxy, wherein the TTL is calculated as a multiple of an interval period between requests generated by the detected activity; andresuming a regular polling interval after the TTL expires after providing the response to the mobile device before expiration of the TTL if the cached content is determined not valid. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein, the activity of the user is performed in using an application on a mobile device in the wireless network; wherein the resource corresponds to a resource polled in response to input to the application on the mobile device. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein a proxy server remote from the mobile device queries the resource requested in the activity and compares a newly received response with a prior received response that has been cached. 4. The method of claim 3, wherein the prior received response is cached at the proxy server or on a local proxy on the mobile device. 5. The method of claim 4, wherein the cached response is provided to a request from the mobile device until the proxy server detects that the newly received response and the prior received response are different. 6. The method of claim 4, wherein the cached response is provided to a request from the mobile device until the TTL has expired. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein querying the resource requested in the activity is performed by a proxy server, and further including querying a second resource when the detected activity is directed towards a second resource. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the determined TTL is a determined multiple of an interval period of detected activity of the user. 9. A system for preventing overloading of a wireless network due to user activity, the system comprising: a mobile device having an application operating thereon and operating in the wireless network, wherein the mobile device is configured to: detect activity of a user in using an application on a mobile device operating in the wireless network;determine timing characteristics of the activity of the user in the wireless network; anda server remote from the user and configured to: query the resource requested in the activity based on the timing characteristics of the activity of the user in the wireless network during a determined time to live (TTL) for a temporary polling interval relative to the activity of the user, wherein the TTL for the temporary polling interval is a substitute for a regular polling interval; andreceive a response for the querying of the resource;wherein the response is used to determine if cached content on the mobile device for the activity directed towards the resources is valid;provide the response to the mobile device before expiration of the TTL if the cached content is determined not valid;resuming a regular polling interval after the TTL expires after providing the response to the mobile device before expiration of the TTL if the cached content is determined not valid, wherein the received determined TTL is determined at a local proxy operating on the mobile device, andwherein a proxy server remote from the mobile device queries the resource and receives the TTL in a poll request from the local proxy, wherein the TTL is calculated as a multiple of an interval period between requests generated by the detected activity. 10. The system of claim 9, wherein, the activity of the user is performed in using an application on a mobile device in the wireless network; wherein the resource corresponds to a resource polled in response to input to the application on the mobile device. 11. The system of claim 9, wherein the server remote from the user queries the resource requested in the activity and compares a newly received response with a prior received response that has been cached. 12. The system of claim 11, wherein the prior received response is cached at a proxy server or on a local proxy on the mobile device. 13. The system of claim 12, wherein the cached response is provided to a request from the mobile device until the server detects that the newly received response and the prior received response are different. 14. The system of claim 12, wherein the cached response is provided to a request from the mobile device until the TTL has expired. 15. The system of claim 9, wherein querying the resource requested in the activity is performed by a proxy server, and further including querying a second resource when the detected activity is directed towards a second resource. 16. The system of claim 9, wherein the determined TTL is a determined multiple of an interval period of detected activity of the user.
