A method according to claim 1, comprising the steps of providing at least two operation modes comprising at least one specific control mode and selecting one of operation modes based on the operating state input, wherein the operation signal is determine in at least one specific control mode, and providing at least two specific control modes, which comprise different control maps. 5. A method according to claim 4, wherein there is one control map for each operating state of the machine. 6. A method according to claim 1, wherein the operator control input corresponding to an angle of an acceleration pedal. 7.
