The retention device of claim 4 wherein the slots also extend into the weight support element. 6. The retention device of claim 5 wherein the slots are sized to accommodate the full length of a clipboard clip, wherein a clipboard comprises the clip board clip, wherein the clip holds the retention device to the clipboard when the clip is within one of the slots. 7. The retention device of claim 6 wherein the substrate is configured such that the clipboard clip does not contact the tablet computer. 8. The retention device of claim 6 wherein each of the retention clips comprise an inside surface and wherein the retention device further comprises padding applied to the inside surface of the retention clips. 9.
