The mixing device according to claim 2, wherein at least 20% of the volume of the monomer container is filled with the gas. 4. The mixing device according to claim 2, wherein the monomer container includes a membrane, and wherein the piercing cannula pierces the membrane of the monomer container when the piercing cannula pierces the monomer container. 5. The mixing device according to claim 4, wherein the monomer container comprises a receiving unit and a monomer vial contained within the receiving unit, andwherein the membrane covers the opening of the monomer vial. 6. The mixing device according to claim 2, wherein at least 40% of the volume of the monomer container is filled with the gas. 7. The mixing device according to claim 1, wherein a channel is disposed in the rod, and wherein monomer from the monomer container is receivable in the mixing container via the channel. 8. The mixing device according to claim 7, wherein the rod comprises a predetermined breaking point. 9. The mixing device according to claim 1, wherein the monomer container comprises a monomer vial disposed in a receiving unit. 10. The mixing device according to claim 9, wherein the receiving unit includes a first part that telescopes relative to a second part of the receiving unit. 11. The mixing device according to claim 10, further comprising a cannula attached to the receiving unit, wherein the monomer vial is disposable between the first part and the second part of the receiving unit such that when the first part is telescoped from the first position to the second position relative to the second part of the receiving unit, the monomer container is pushed onto the cannula. 12. The mixing device according to claim 11, wherein the cannula is disposed in a channel of the rod. 13. The mixing device according to claim 1, further comprising a cannula attached to the monomer container and the rod, the cannula being adapted to pierce the monomer container, wherein the monomer container comprises first and second telescoping parts, and wherein one of the first and second telescoping parts of the monomer container includes at least one catch hook and the other of the first and second telescoping parts of the monomer container includes at least one catch lug for engagement beneath the respective catch hook such that the monomer container is locked in position relative to the mixing container when the cannula pierces the monomer container. 14. The mixing device according to claim 1, further comprising a safety bolt attached to the monomer container, which, upon removal, releases a first part of the monomer container for movement relative to a second part of the monomer container. 15. The mixing device according to claim 14, further comprising means for blocking reinsertion of the removed safety bolt. 16. The mixing device according to claim 1, further comprising a cannula attached to the monomer container and the rod, the cannula being adapted to pierce the monomer container, wherein when the monomer container is pierced and a vacuum is present, monomer is pushed out of the monomer container into the mixing container by a gas that expands as a result of the vacuum such that the monomer flows via the cannula into the mixing container. 17. The mixing device according to claim 16, wherein the mixing container, the rod, and the monomer container form a closed design preventing the penetration of outside air. 18. The mixing device according to claim 1, further comprising: a cannula attached to the monomer container and embedded in a channel of the rod adapted to pierce the monomer container; anda safety bolt attached to the monomer container, which, upon removal, allows the cannula to pierce the monomer container. 19. The mixing device according to claim 18, further comprising means for blocking reinsertion of the removed safety bolt. 20. A mixing device for preparing bone cement, comprising: a rod;a mixing container attached to the rod;a monomer container attached to the mixing container via the rod and having first and second telescoping parts, wherein the rod is moveable relative to the mixing container; anda cannula attached to the monomer container and the rod, the cannula being adapted to pierce the monomer container, wherein one of the first and second telescoping parts of the monomer container includes at least one catch hook and the other of the first and second telescoping parts of the monomer container includes at least one catch lug for engagement beneath the respective at least one catch hook such that the monomer container is locked in position relative to the mixing container when the cannula pierces the monomer container.
