A frozen food package and method of producing and using the same is disclosed. The food package includes a bag which is freezable, ovenable and microwaveable. A frozen food assembly within the bag includes food (uncooked, cooked, or partially cooked), preferably an entree. Typically, the food assembly includes a meat, a fruit or vegetable, and a flavoring liquid such as a broth or stock, and may include infused oil or a dairy product. The food is typically embedded in the frozen liquid to facilitate handling and shipping and to align the frozen food with a display window of the bag. Chemical preservatives are not necessary and sauces may be omitted although sauces are not burned in the cooking process. The method typically includes sealing the frozen food in the liquid-impermeable bag and cooking the food in the sealed bag. The resulting dish is a substantial improvement over the well-known precooked frozen meals.

1. A method of making a food package comprising a frozen molded food form contained in a sealed bag having no vents, said method comprising: providing a tray having a cavity;placing liquid and food in the cavity;placing the cavity in a freezer, wherein the liquid and food form the frozen molded food form in the cavity;removing the frozen molded food form from the cavity;providing the bag;placing the frozen molded food form in the bag; andsealing the bag such that the bag has no vents, wherein the food comprises sauce having a viscosity at 150 degrees F. in the range of 1,000 to 8,000 cPs;wherein the viscosity of the sauce is greater than a viscosity of the liquid;wherein the liquid generates steam when heated during cooking; andwherein moisture in the food is retained within the food during heating. 2. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of placing the cavity in a freezer comprises having the liquid become frozen liquid, wherein the frozen liquid surrounds the food, along a perimeter of the frozen molded food form. 3. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 2, wherein the step of placing liquid and food in the cavity comprises placing uncooked food in the cavity. 4. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of placing liquid and food in the cavity comprises placing uncooked food in the cavity. 5. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 4, wherein the step of providing the bag comprises providing that the bag remains sealed, and does not vent, during cooking of the uncooked food. 6. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 5, wherein the step of placing liquid in the cavity comprises providing that steam is generated in the bag during cooking, thereby cooking the uncooked food. 7. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 4, wherein the step of placing liquid and uncooked food in the cavity comprises providing that the frozen sauce is configured such that the frozen sauce does not caramelize during cooking of the uncooked food. 8. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 4, wherein the step of placing liquid and uncooked food in the cavity comprises providing that the frozen sauce is configured such that the frozen sauce does not undergo a Maillard reaction during cooking of the uncooked food. 9. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of providing the bag comprises providing that the bag has no susceptor layer. 10. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of placing liquid and food in the cavity comprises providing that liquid completely covers a bottom wall of the cavity, and extends upwardly therefrom along all remaining walls of the cavity, wherein after freezing, the frozen liquid surrounds the food, along a perimeter of the frozen molded food form. 11. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of providing the bag comprises providing that the bag is at least one of ovenable and microwavable. 12. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of providing the bag comprises providing that the bag is impermeable to liquids. 13. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of placing liquid and food in the cavity comprises providing that the liquid comprises at least 8.0% of the frozen molded food form, by weight. 14. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of placing liquid and food in the cavity comprises providing that the frozen molded food form comprises at least 90.0% water by weight. 15. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 1, wherein the step of placing liquid and food in the cavity comprises introducing the food at a location substantially central to the cavity. 16. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 15, wherein the step of placing liquid and food in the cavity further comprises moving the food from the location substantially central to the cavity to push the liquid towards a perimeter of the cavity such that a ring of liquid is formed around the food. 17. A method of making a food package as recited in claim 16, wherein the ring of liquid is configured to vaporize and condense onto a surface of the food when heated.
